How much the share price gets to prior to the dividend announcement a totally separate issue. The share price is not going to rise because of the announcement of a dividend unless the market is full of idiots.

What will raise this share price is the anticipation of profits, not the dividend. We already know fully the details of profit that this dividend is based upon (the disastrous settlement).

Other profits may move the share price. They are an entirely separate factor from this dividend payment.

Don't get excited about a dividend. The share price will go down by the same number of pennies that the dividend pays per share. If the dividend is 8p per share then the share price will drop by 8p on the ex dividend date, other than any other factors affecting the share that you would have benefited or lost from anyway.

If you own the share the day before the ex-dividend date you will get the dividend but the share price will drop the following day.

If this were not the case then everyone in the world would be jumping in to buy the share prior to the ex-dividend date in order to make free money.

With what company? Several I suppose. We don't want Samsung, thank you ... so lets assume we done own the entire market, and lets go with Apple as our best option... 225m phones in 2022. That's 45m of revenue to nanoco... minus costs. minus greedy director bonuses. No growth.

He starts by saying that 100m devices will give 20m of revenue... but then qualifies that to say that it doesn't quite scale down for low volume... So I would have to conclude (since BT is the eternal optimist) that 10m will provide less that 20p per device REVENUE and 1m will provide even less than that. I give up.

Even with £20m of profit per year that's a 1.6% profit (but hang on there, we are still in loss at the moment)... and there can't be any real growth from those kind of volumes.
