This is deceptive as they have taken me details whilst showing the offer is still open..but when you get your account setup with them only then do they say its closed. Forgot to say it was Fear of a 2nd Covid wave that is weighing heavy on the BP SP today..i.e. would impact demand again negatively..hence the 5% down today...nothing to do with today's announcement....no offence bunch of rookies here on this board.......................................just like me ;-)

Assuming futures are positive, this should have a good start tomorrow. Have the vital jobs figures coming out that could affect the overall direction tomorrow however!

Today's announcement...heard it all before. Over a 50 year period oil demand goes down and goes up. Today's estimate of an average of $55 over X years is simply an estimate. The writedown is purely an accounting thing as assets have to reference some 'defined' value. The values of assets can also be valued upwards at a later stage or at anytime - just like it happened today. Think of it another way. Whatever BP was pumping out of their wells...it would only be fetching $55/barrel and no longer the $75/barrel they forecast say 10 years ago..the point is that this simply changes from year to year. Some early stage wells will not be developed..that is common sense if $75/barrel is not achievable - it means the demand is not there. Nothing about today's announcement really had an effect on the SP... its all about where oil is at (price) and market sentiment..which today was down. Expecting this rise again tomorrow...

Like Trump..every time opens mouth the SP goes down!! Unlese as the FNG he is simply kitchen sinking and getting the bad news outta the way???

Iraq usually dont comply but this time they are as evidenced by weekend news..so should give BP a bump tmrw! Thats if overseas markets and futures remain positive overnight...

See ur point Teddy but also Juju's...in fact on city traders reuters ane bloomberg feeds this is precisely the type of queue pros look for...right now the 2nd wave is the prevalent theme so sense the market will be on edge again next week..having said that BP will prob hit a week high of 3.45 to 3.50p.... other things on folks radars...tuesday UK jobs figures like the US ones will set the tone...

How comes despite the frantic sell off, the stock bounces back up through 3.20/3.24 levels quickly? It was stick forever at 3.05 to 3.24 level for some time...oil price has not changed..so whats driving the SP higher??

January2 - Goldman predictions was for $35 Oil for WTI - you're right and we're there now... WTI is in the 35s now....also Brent is 37 so verging on the $35 too.... tell you Goldman like the Egyptian ruler Ramses , what ever is decreed so shall it be done!
