RE: Milliband introducing £120 boiler tax22 Nov 2024 11:54
Bloomers-blower.
As you point out any plant/machinery / installation that is not working to its full capacity is costing more by the simple fact of the fixed costs. Wind turbines run nowhere near full capacity over a 12 month period. To reach capacity they need wind speeds within the range of 30-55 mph below that or above that range and they are not being economical .
Over a 12 month period you would be lucky to achieve 40% capacity. Taking into account their relatively short life span of between 20/25 years and high maintenance costs they cannot be economical. Even their maintenance cost will be higher than a normal power station set up, for they are located in areas that require extensive travelling and time travel and labour costs. And the areas that they are generally found in are unfriendly to work in and damaging to the apparatus .
But Miliband a man with no actual experience in any form of WORK outside of talking hot air, knows all there is to know of the requirements of producing , moving, erecting ,maintaining any structure whether turbine or pylon.
Any takers on this board, to submit a plan for the supply and costing for the erection and connection of one turbine or pylon and associated plant ie sub-stations, cabling etc into the national grid.
Sounds very easy to a layman.
For example pay £30k for a car and do 30k miles it has cost £1 per mile just for the car.
Do 100k miles and the cost comes down to .30p
The on costs for owning the car whether driven or not will be the same, including depreciation , the same goes for wind farms or solar farms.
