I see the well loved HMRC are going after granny flats, anyone buying a house with a Granny flat could save money by it being classed as two properties purchased from the same seller. The tax have been asked to consider raising the threshold from to to three or four to be eligible for the multiple dwelling relief discount. Looks like Lloyd's and Legal and General are trying to make it harder for the small landlord, to buy with any discounts .

I see that the HMRC is going after contractors again who used umbrella companies.
I remember when the business boys wanted their workers to be self employed and I also remember when they decided training apprentices was a waste of money, because it could affect the companies bottom line.
I also remember some staff men at companies I worked for as a contractor, having a go at we contractors for earning more than they did. I offered to get them some contact numbers so they could go contracting none took up my offer.
It is like Gordon Brown encouraging us to buy diesel cars and now we are condemned for killing the planet, it is never the top sods who are actually useless. to man and beast

On the tax /dole and alike asking you questions, they want you to catch you out incriminating yourself, I know from experience that they know everything about my finances.

I am surprised they did not charge you interest on the over payments.
I have some personal stories about our generous governments and their none generosity to those whom have worked all their lives and paid into the system.

I know two people who took PPI out, they did it to just get money for holidays and betting, booze etc, taking the PPI was their way of ensuring they got the loans. Ended up skint the pair of them, but managed to claim a load back in the PPI repayments !. Being a loser in this country seems to pay off.
