I believe that erhem..my prediction was touching 600 before dropping back to 592 last trade before 10/10. This based on nothing more than plain guesswork. I will be selling a percentage and will base that figure on how the sp,s are faring for those house building companies not influenced by an imminent dividend. This would seem to be one way of figuring out how sustainable the sp for BDEV might be post dividend.

All the main players in the housing market lost between 2 and 3 % today. I find it quite odd that the brexit 'no deal' scenario,( looking more likely because Johnny Foreigner won't play to the Queensberry rules) is giving this one sector the willies.

Nice Motley Fool article today suggesting builders shares could be the bargain of the bunch. Might encourage a few more investors.

I'm guessing it will touch around 600 momentarily around a week or so before ex-dividend. This will trigger a batch of selling as a number of smaller investors take some profit rather than receiving more than £2k dividend this tax year. So, I'm saying, 592 at 4.30 pm on 10/10, give or take some loose change. Beat that any Warren Buffets on here :)

Yes Nige, mashroom will do so long as I make loads a money haha. Looking at housing shares currently it would appear that the market is a little spooked about Brexit. I’m reading about good quality results and yet prices are continuing to slide apart from BDEV recently and the logic would be the magnet of the special dividend keeping it relatively aloft. I’m not convinced that we will see the 650 mark prior to the ex div. I’d love to be wrong of course but the sp seems to be driving with the brakes on.

Nige, I think I am going to set up a similar strategy. It's something I've done before in a different market when bonus bagging sportsbooks. Essentially, using a pot of money more energetically (than sitting back and waiting five years) in order to increase the overall pot but not as energetically as day trading, for which I don't have the mindset. I shall begin with bdev and consider a bunch of others to fit into the weave. Thanks.

I've read your strategy, or rather the bones of it, on other share threads. Was going to message you but I can't on my 'no pay' level here at lse. Looks interesting and 'doable as a way to dividend bag at lower risk. I intended doing it to some degree on this share. I'm just wondering when the best timing would be. Guess I'll need a crystal ball for that!

So pleased I took a deep breath and bought more shares a few days ago. Finally, a calculated risk that didn't send shock waves through the market haha. Normally, when I do that the share price plunges. So far, so good!

Assuming those after hours buys are exactly when purchased, (and not delayed notice from the mms) which seems highly likely, it's a sea of blue right up to 545! Nice!

I've purchased a load more today. ALL major builders down by 2% +? I'm thinking (hoping!) it will bounce back tomorrow or by the end of the week.

I thought hard about it yesterday and decided to buy in again at 14.7. It takes me up to exactly 100,000 shares and I'm happy to sit on that. I'd like to be able to say to a grandson or granddaughter . "Look, I bought these shares for you in mind ten years ago and they are now all yours, all £15,050 ". (jk)

I never realised how thick I was until I popped into the questions and answers session and had a look at the conversation. Good job they didn't ask for a question from me. I'd have probably blurted out 'Urrr...yeah...umm Fiona what's your favourite colour?" Or, something equally as daft.

The technical terminology is a bit baffling and I'm scared of putting a decimal place in the wrong spot but 100 mmbls of crude oil equals how much (after 50% to Argentina) on the open market? £1.5 billion?

I've been watching this share every day for around eight months, which is when I started investing again, after a long lay off. I now believe that the sp is affected by investors who have no interest in the market at all but shift their money around as the mood fits. No news from Echo for a week? Ok let's move the money to some other flying company and then to somewhere else and then back again perhaps. It's hair raising and more than a bit irritating to see the value of the company affected by this (fickle to me but I guess there is money in it) investment behaviour. All very odd but if it makes the investors/day traders money what do they care what I think!!!

Seemed like sensible advice there and I have also seen this spike occur a few times since investing last year (I'd wondered why). Stop loss removed!
