My other half is having her hair done today, here at home. Unable to contain my excitement, I burst in on a conversation about hair styles or something and said how happy I was with my investment here, which was overdue after a couple of yearsof less successful investment in oil shares.

" Why is this one different?" she asked.

"Well" I said, "Unlike oil and gas where you can complete an exploration drill that looks promising, only to find out later that there is water contamination within it or the surrounding rock and it is too unstable to extract the oil, gold just sits there and once discovered, is just waiting to be mined out. Your challenge is to have the machinery to do it, crush all the rock down and then smelt all the gold particles together into big fat gold bars."

"Oh, that sounds good", she said and continued dealing with her own highlights of the day.

I returned to my computer screen with a big smile on my face.

I'm very please on the 'you know what' too. Somewhat disappointed that the rest of my portfolio is pulling it all down. Housing and oil shares mainly and I'm being punished for it at present.

I don't understand why housing is dropping again. 4% yesterday for BDEV and still falling today alongside TW.

Why is it, with shares, every bit of joy has to be tinged with tears eh!?

JR - That's what I look at (Google) and includes some late transactions up to 6 minutes beyond 4.30 pm. I think that LSE stops at 4.30 pm (could be wrong but it would explain the .5 difference on the quoted price between the two) My own broker (Halifax) definitely loses interest after 4.30 pm.

The SP moved in a very bizarre way today. E.g it stood at 3.74 after a late trade and was then beaten down to 3.65 minutes later. This odd up and down motion has been the order of the day .

Anyway, I had a spare £1300 and topped up at 3.67. So, 434k shares, average 3 p per share. Hold until nerve breaks... :)

I'm wasting my life away looking at this share price today lol. I'm trying to read between the lines: Who would sell? Day traders presumably. Who is buying those shares immediately they become available? MM's and long term holders maybe? It's like watching a poker game online.

Great fun really.

I think we have to remember that the whole stock market is being seriously spooked by the Coronavirus outbreak. While a 20% rise was, frankly, disappointing, it was nevertheless a shining beacon compared to the drubbing received by virtually all other shares in my portfolio . Has I not had this one in the top pocket, I'd have lost a lot of money today.

Sitting here watching post after post drinking tea. I'm not up there with the big investors but rather glad I doubled my investment to 260,000 shares today.

I'm on a tea-total month but if it lifts off as predicted tomorrow...I have just the right bottle to open......

Yes, it has been a steep learning curve and no mistake. Cognac eh Bamps? I prefer the thought of Portugal a little more but it's still going to require a boom on the GGP sp! I'll certainly drink to that :)

I only got into this share caper because, administratively, my pension company was useless, I couldn't face receiving 1% interest in savings accounts and wanted to improve on that, at least above inflation. In these first two year, I lost several thousand pounds on Evraz and Echo but gradually, by Contrarian investment and gut-feel, I've managed to build a portfolio that gives a bit of excitement, coupled with solid blue chip investment (when the time is right).

I can't match Tom's profit for the lovely new car, but investment in TW and BDEV have done well for me (25% up in both) and following up Bamps' GGP tip has also netted me enough for an electric bike thus far, a mini if it goes up three or four fold and a house abroad if it hits the roof.

Here's hoping and thanks for the informative board here. I like the coffee lounge style here in TW!

I actually invested here from a remark made on the TW. board. I didn't see it as a ramp but more of a 'tip' for anyone who wanted to follow it up. There aren't so many regulars on the TW. chat so I recognised it as a conversation with 'the bloke down the pub'.

Glad I did. Had it not been for that I wouldn't have invested in this share, most of which was at 1.58p .

So I guess a little ramping is fine.

Gold Investor - I've been looking at your posts. They resemble something some wide-eyed ol' timer would shout hysterically , "There's gold in them thar hills!!"

Good growth for PPHE it would seem.

It's amazing how, amongst the clamour to be found on some of the boards here, this share just climbs and climbs without any hype, ramping, de-ramping or whatever.

I guess this very post could be consider a 'hype' but I'm pretty sure it doesn't need it!

If anyone else knows a share under the radar, do share!

I bought £2k worth at 2.11 pm. It's showing as a sell. I had looked on google for the price a minute earlier and cursed when I saw the price had risen to 1.65 but amazingly I was still able tocomplete the purchase at 1.584. Weird!

I keep thinking about the line in the film 'Platoon' where the camp is getting overrun at the end and a lieutenant rings the camp commander to ask permission to retreat to which the commander replies "Where you gonna retreat to Lieutenant!?" I checked my portfolio, down 10% in two weeks to see if I could rob Peter to pay Paul (and buy more TW shares). No chance, they are all down. Every single one of them across the board. All down and all the gains of the last few months wiped out and then some. As the camp commander said in summary of his situation, "It's a hell of a f.... war!"

I took a bit of chance and bought in around Christmas last year at what proved to be a good price (I think!). Initially the sp raced up then dipped and my mental processes have been bouncing around every since, ranging from 'oh it's ok, I'm 10% up back' to 'ok well at least it's a good dividend' and it's been back and forth between these two thoughts ever since. Today is a microcosm of the last eight months for me. This share seems to refuse to head up and stay up!

The share seems very edgy at the moment as traders await the announcement of the next dividend perhaps? It must be imminent. The ex-dividend date is likely to be on or around 15th August.
