Caught the ferry down to Bilbao on Wednesday. The sea was like something out of 'Master and Commander'. But the real harrowing experience was the further cost en route to Portugal - about 5k every time I looked at my phone!!

Great post schlemiel and I certainly felt quite dispirited after losing 10k valuation from my portfolio SO QUICKLY! It seems Id hardly had time to take it in and pfff its went again!

Ive had a word wih myself and said "RIght thicko, what is wrong here? Are you jealous because some people called it right and sold up above 5p when you didn't? Did you let greed get the better of you and assume that the share would rocket up to 6p on the strength of the drilling results rather than the finished product? Did you ignore your own assessment that there are hundreds of short term traders in this?" At this point I told myself to get stuffed. If I was happy making a certain set income Iwould have put my cash in a building society account and rubbed hands with glee at 1% per year!

Pah! Roll on Monday.

I think that what got to me yesterday was that Ive just started a lovely long three month holiday and the successes of the last week had finally, after two years, put me several k above my original investment.

Four hours motorway driving and my reward was several k below. Grrrr!

But I'm a believer yeh! So, here's hoping todays colour matches the Iberian sky!

It's a battle between those who have little interest on the future for ggp and simply wager on share price movement and those who do not wish to take the chance of being out if the share suddenly spikes.

One thing you can be virtually sure of: You will never read "Hey guys, I sold up at 5p, expecting to buy back at a lower price and couldn't because the price kept going up" You only read about the successful outcomes. Funny that.

Personally, I will be hoping for/expecting some focus on the prospects surrounding the exploitation of the Havieron field and the arrangements that have been made with GGP to facilitate that agreement. I can't help feeling that the language will be upbeat which will help our share to continue on it's upward momentum!

I'm going on a long three month break tomorrow and should be packing loads of stuff.

Actual conversation between me and other half:

That, my friend, is why there are sixty zillion posts on here discussing the same question!

chez- I read somewhere that you should never have more than 40% of your portfolio invested in any one share. That way, if things do not work out as planned you still have something to call a portfolio! If it were me, I would wait until your broker is offering a cheap dealing day (e.g Halifax do one every month at £3.95 and there is one scheduled for this coming Thursday).
Put it into four FTSE 100 or 250 shares you like the look of and let it grow. My opinion. I'm sure others will offer their's!

Tell you what...why don't we settle on the difference and make it 25m? :)

I see 123 Gold but the question remains the same. Why hide this deal from view until so late in the day? Or is it that it wasn't hidden from Level 2 traders? I wouldn't know because I'm too mean to pay for level 2 and get all my information from Google :)

I notice the last reported trade today was 5m shares but actioned at 09.23. What would be the tactic of not reporting this trade until so late in the day I wonder? The sale knocked the price down to 4.90.

Paddy, Have no fears on my part. I have looked at various presentations and assessed the prospects. No-one can be blamed if this does not turn out as expected but that's the risk you take as an investor. If it were 100% certain the share price would reflect that certainty.

I couldn't resist a top up but now that is absolutely at the end of scale of my risk acceptance. Broker target is 6 p a share. Most of us think this is way to conservative with the projects in hand and sometimes you just have to release the grip and go for it.

BTW - Thanks Paddy for some great help providing us with the results of your considerable research. I' have redressed all the losses over the last two years in one month!

You may be right Chippy but I get the feeling there are a lot of investors currently emptying piggy banks, re-allocating the kids pocket money for next month, digging out that old Building Society account with £100 in it and emptying the change pot on the kitchen shelf...just to get a few more GGP shares next week!

Blimey Jon, that is an exciting prospect. 8p would be a big boost to my pension pot for sure.

I,ve been studying this synopsis for a day or two, which was kindly put up by a fellow board member. If you follow the logic and compare the possibilities against the pricing of other companies in the field, 8p does not seem so out of reach.

Yes I realise this is a paid-for blog but it is very encouraging.

Same age as you Jerryspaniel and with much the same outlook! In fact, I'm already retired and living off a pension pot and savings. Trouble is, I'm caught between the devil and the deep blue sea: I haven't quite got enough to live comfortably for three decades (because I've decided 93 should cover it!) but must be careful not to gamble the lot away on speculative shares that, if successful, would make up the shortfall.

I'd love to throw the kitchen sink at this share but Captain Sensible is sitting on my shoulder stopping me from going 'all in'. Damn Captain Sensible.

Many of the investments are quite small: A few hundred to a few thousand pounds in value. I think a number of people have been driven here with a kind of modern 'gold rush' motivation. I suspect that many investors have only a cursory knowledge of the company and are following instincts. They are often a little unkindly referred to as the 'herd' or 'heard'. That being the case, there would be little to hold these investors over a long period because they won't bother to spend the time reading up on any progress being made. After all they might only have invested 1k. I believe it is this rush that has driven the price up relentlessly and still will next week at least. I forecast 5.5 p by the end of next week which is a little under the current Numis broker target.

I haven't touched a drop of alcohol since Jan 1 but Chateau Aldi has just been opened in celebration. What a super week and I have learned a great deal about this business since my speculative punt three months ago.

I once read an article that suggested luck 'evens out' across a lifetime. I have lost thousands on plummeting oil AND FTSE 100 shares and only bought here because I saw a reference to it on another message board, several months ago. Therefore, the luck has currently 'evened out'. I deserve this win and I daresay a fair few of you do too. Cheers!
