Just an observation, but there doesn’t seem to be much talk about smartphone test readers now.

I haven’t seen anything to say ODX, Mologic/GAD, or Surescreen have one (although I think I may have read somewhere that Mologic have worked with Bond Digital Health in the past), yet it still seems to me that if LFT are going to be used for these kind of sporting events, or indeed home testing at all (eg for general screening), then a device to read and send results to a central database will be needed.

Our manufacturers ABDX and BBI can both supply this tech through AppDX or Novarum.

I truly believe we will sell everything we can make, so the biggest questions for me are;

How much can we make?
How quickly can we make it?
How do we maximise our margin?

FIN215 - ABDX seem like a no brainier to me

1. Govt wants 2m tests a day
2 It wants U.K. companies to make them
3. Surescreen and ODX capability barely dents that requirement
4. GAD might put a greater dent in it, but I still struggle to understand why it would offer up its capacity for domestic supply when it was established for the very particular purpose of manufacturing at cost for the benefit of poorer countries.

So which other U.K. companies can manufacture???

Abingdon, BBI and Mologic are the obvious ones

Only with all manufacturers will the U.K. hit its target, so ABDX will have to be involved.

And we should remember that the 2m per day is just the govt requirement. There will I think be massive commercial opportunity on top of that.

Gotta be good for us, surely. We were never part of the tender imho, and they’ve rejected everyone else that went for it.

We can disagree on the presentation BigD. But despite my views on that, I remain convinced that AVCT are going to be supplying the reagent to a sovereign test, which it appears GAD and ODX will be manufacturing for the govt (at what I assume will be reduced margins), and that ABDX (along with BBI) will be producing the same test commercially and with higher margins.

ABDX will do well!

Don’t know if this has already been posted but in the ODX RNS they comment on Covid related revenue in the current financial year

“Revenue from COVID-19 activities is expected to be approximately GBP1.5 million which includes sales from the UK-RTC antibody test, sales of the Mologic ELISA antibody test and DEVELOPMENT INCOME FOR WORK UNDERTAKEN ON BEHALF OF A THIRD PARTY”

Have been looking at Global Access Diagnostics

Originally set up by Mologic, it appears to have secured funding from George Soros through a foundation at the beginning of October, at which point various people were appointed to the BOD. One of these was Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, a former ****stani minister/ambassador who also sits on the advisory board at Afiniti, with David Cameron, while the others all seem to be major academics from around the world.

Clearly GAD is an entity with purpose, connections and clout.

One thing (among many) which does confuse me is why GAD, a company specifically set up to ensure supply to poorer countries, appears now to have “offered up” its capacity to the govt for what I’m assuming are domestic needs.

As an aside, I note that the larger proprietary test validation results expected by Mologic inJan have so far not materialised

@PAH - haven't been following the ABDX story as closely and so am unsure who the 3 antigen test manufacturers we have on board are. I know we have AVCT, and there is at least one other international company that recently obtained a CE mark (could be SONA, certainly their investors think so), but am unsure as to the third. Sorry but can you help? Thnx

@monkshood - are you particularly concerned that we appear to still be targeting just the S protein?

I’m no scientist (so please forgive any ignorance) but it seems to me that this is where mutations occur, and so if a mutation affects the binding site on the spike then it may equally affect our test. Clearly this could be mitigated if we target more than one binding site, but I’m not at all clear we do.
