Hello all. Doesn’t feel like the ‘weekend’ but it is here! Hope everyone has a good few days.
My first post on BP board. I hold HUR and ECO shares. What a crazy ride they have been in the last 18 months. Both of these are fairly high risk compared to BP so that’s why I am looking here. I’m not a big investor but have 3.5K to put in. My thinking is 1/ maybe time to pick a more established oil company and 2/ under £3 seems like good medium/long-term value.
2 quick questions. I’m not massively familiar with the dividend situation for BP. In effect, if you hold shares on 7 May do you qualify for the payment and if so, how long do you thereafter have to hold the shares for?
And do people think 300 is good value. I see the SP has been as low as 230 but bounced back quick. Any strong reasons to suggest this might drop anything near 250 in the near future?
Ps I’d encourage people to take a look at GGP. That has been another crazy ride but IMO (and those on a very well informed bulletin board) the current under 8p price is an absolute bargain. Huge potential this year for them. Huge.
Not been on the BB much today. Was on last night when all the ‘excitement’ was happening. Quick Q... apologies if it has already been answered. Do we know if the suspension in Newcrest SP has anything to do with us. Or is it all 100 % related to the Ecuador asset they are buying?
Morning all. Looking forwards to the RND.
Given the news from last night, should we all be buying into Artemis at 0.034 per share?
It's all a bit dull so far, isn't it? Feels like I'm at a festival and we've had the C grade acts so far... wonder who is going to be 10pm headline tonight... Freddie and his mates at their very best or a bad Queen tribute act.
Hard to keep a lid on big news and almost impossible to keep a lid on really BIG news. After a quiet week so far, here's hoping we start to nibble at 9.5 and maybe the 10s today before close. Going to be an odd day... trading to 5pm and then all eyes on 8pm.
Totally the right thing to do IMO. Nothing like playing with house chips. OK so you might not be the Flash Harry that walks out the casino with all the noise and boasting about a 100 bagger, but they are few and far between. The clever investors are the ones who cover their initial investment and then sit back. If we all did that every time we’d be happy bunnies. Good luck with your investment, let’s hope there is more to come as the SP goes up. But the right move for now 100%.
Just wanted to get back and thank all those kind enough to offer their advice., especially those who did so without skepticism. Having a 2 year old and a full-time job I'm a small-time, lack of time investor. I do as much research as I can and people have really helped out. Paddy's stuff (and others) is super impressive.
Anyway, I'm on board at 9.2. Looking forward to see what happens this week. In a COVID-19 ravaged world, it feels nice to have something to look forward to this week...
In response to JSI... you need to re-read my OP. At best, I was encouraging those who are on huge multi-baggers (congratulations to all of you incidentally!) to sell a small amount of their holding to play with house money. That would have made a tiny difference to the SP! I'm happy to be in at 9.2 even though this opens up at 8.8 today.
BTW... one quick questions... as this is all happening in Australia... is there an LSE bulletin board or similar Oz equivalent? Would be interesting to see what GGP investors on the other side of the world and closer to the action are saying as the Newcrest quarterly approaches. Anyone know?
PS In regards to me mentioning it and others commenting... I'm sticking with HUR... oil will recover. I think at 10p they are a good bet to recover to 30-40p in the next 12 months (assuming we pull out of this pandemic). They have plenty of cash.
Hello all,
Been watching this from a distance. Turned down getting in at 7.4 but SP keeps rising so Monday seems like the time to climb aboard. Can't say I'm 'up to speed' yet on what's happening, can anyone advise some quick reads to help me? Thanks...
Obviously some here have had a great time of late and are sitting on 5 /10+ baggers (congrats!)... I've seen a few people asking advice. Mine is simple... if your on a 5x or 10x bagger then as a minimum sell (what will be a small amount of your stock) to cover your initial investment. Some will says thats wussy but its plain old common sense. I bought into ECO at 50p last year... we were at 200p and looking forward to 300p plus and then the analysis showed high sulphur content in the oil discoveries... add in COVID and you can buy ECO for 18p today. I've had similar experiences with HUR and JOUL of late because of COVID.
Might sound a bit odd considering that I'm asking for advice on buying in today, but if you are sitting on a pretty profit then remember this is only paper profit! Sh*t happens. The graph doesn't always do what we expect or hope it will. Sell a few... from my experience the shrewd investors cash in a small number of chips and carry on playing with house money. Good luck all.
Evening all... just stumbled across TLW really. Not a big investor but I've owned a few oil shares of late... HUR and ECO. So I know what a rollercoaster ride is. Have had a quick look at Tullow looks like another helter-skelter job given that this was almost touching 300 not that long ago. Big gains in the last week though and very bullish chat here. I've looked at a couple of RNS lately... why is this so bullish all of a sudden. Appreciate a few quick insights to get me up to speed. Cheers.
Anyone think 17% jump today might be linked to a stonking set of feedback tomorrow. That said, markets are up in general today. Any thoughts?
Any predictions... surely good news to move us up...?
I’m no expert and I get we are still at testing phase to a degree. But if water is such an issue how have we managed to sell 3 million barrels for north of £150 million? I’m very. encouraged. Just need SP to start reflecting our true value! Good start yesterday!
What I want to see is an interview with Dr Trice in the next week. Hopefully someone can get him to clarify everything. Nothing like hearing it from the horses mouth.
I'm disappointed by the drop... more so as I was busy at 8am and could have hoovered up a few more shares. As it stands my investment is breaking even, but I'm LT here so now real concerns as this will go back to mid-40s again in December. The Lincoln feedback looks promising and we are producing nice amount of oil and generating money. I'd just like to hear more about what Dr T thinks specifically about Warwick.... good luck to all....
So is this good news or bad???
What time is his talk?
I wasn’t trying to be smart. I still have ECO shares. Don’t say trade and was away when it dropped. Could have sold for 170 bit didn’t. That’s the way it goes. I’m a LT holder on shares I like.
Was just pointing out to those on here expecting a spike in the SP after 3pm today ahead of a cracking RNS that it doesn’t always work like that.
Feels like a quiet day for the share. Everyone assuming there needs to be a chunky rise to indicate an impactful RNS is on the way tomorrow... take note of ECO in August. Day 1 68.2... Day 2 68... Day 3 RNS 120+
Hoping for something similar here tomorrow...
Is that RNS going to drop in the next 15 mins... and is it going to be good news?
I am a LT holder and people seem v. upbeat at the moment. Not wanting to de-ramp but what is different this time. The last few RNS drops have not had much of an impact... Indeed I'd bet the trend is usually down on news days.
The SP increase today isn't massive is it... I hope I'm wrong and HUR breaks out big time this week. Could do with some good news. ECO has been a disaster after an amazing August...
