Timing wasn’t an issue in 2018 when we were all hot to trot with enthusiasm, excitement, anticipation. But over 3 years later with hindsight guiding you, timing was always a problem … Rather convenient don’t you think.

Let me ask you a question - Who on this board was questioning the Tlou miracle all the way through 2017 ? Pretty much one person only,alone voice at that time.

Ah, your bitter and twisted side now showing up. Is Tlou hoping to sign a 2MW PPA, or a 10MW PPA, or and initial 2 sliding to 10MW PPA. Or maybe they are going for the full 100MW PPA - remember back when there was considerable discussion on that. I think you Smith might have said they were going for the 100, but then you had to again be corrected. More assumptions was it ….
Maybe we have all waited so long that Tlou and Sekaname both are asked/ told to deliver 50MW each, so the Ministry are persuaded that gas works. And use that test as the basis to award Orapa 90MW.
Just conjecture on my part though.

Anyway, I am sure others will keep me right on all this.

Quarterly update due in 15 more sleeps. Expect more and more as the clock winds down. I cannot but wonder what magic will be pulled from the hat this time. A signed and agreed PPA would be nice - am expecting Morris to keep us informed on that.

The 2MW PPA was a Ministry induced totally pointless smokescreen, since it was something BPC were told to discuss. I have no idea what became of it, but since we have heard nothing more about it since shortly after it was announced, I suspect it wasn’t worth the price of a fish supper. Had Tlou felt they could have raised money off it, then it would have been all the rage. That it was never heard of again, tells a story.

Now, how about we offer you Smith a 2MW contract ?! Do us all a favour since actually I reckon many here are getting bored educating you on the same old, same old.

And STAY ON TOPIC - we couldn’t give a fiddlers about your Police stories…. Jeez, just how thick are you ?!

Smith - Have You Got It Yet ? The PPA is the number 1 most important thing on Tlou’s journey to (hopefully) success ! Without it, they cannot go to market to raise significant amounts of project finance. If you cannot raise debt from project finance then you look to your shareholders - now does anyone (with a brain) expect equity holders to keep stumping up the cash at such low price (ie pennies) v soooooo many shares already in issue !! That slope was already slippery 3 years ago; and surprise surprise is no less slippery now….

There are those that can see the wood for the trees. And there are those who believe what they are told and follow along like ‘sheep’.

And I will more than happily leave it to everyone to decide for themselves how big a priority the /any PPA is.
My opinion - it is absolutely pivotal. And is the main reason funding has not been secured and by default therefore the main reason why the project has not progressed as we here would have liked.

As for ‘my twisted version’ - Smith I think it is about time you grew up. I have been offering information about local politics and locals developments in Botswana. These might seem irrelevant to you; they don’t seem irrelevant to me. Show some respect for people with an alternate view from you rather than think your role on this board is simply to try drown out other noise from people who’s view you don’t happen to agree with.

Yup. What it does show though is just how not advanced the whole Botswana market and environment really is.
I see the Stock Exchange there is doing a lot of recent marketing which indicates they want to help develop the capital markets pool. And really if markets players are having to educate the local investment institutions about the merits and opportunities of Infrastructure investment, then really Botswana is light years behind.
Then again, Tony will sort it all out for us. Botswana coals are the best he has ever seen; the opportunity was hyped on initial listing back in 2009 as an amazing opportunity; and here we are …. 12 years later…. Having to educate local market players on why they should consider investing in local infrastructure projects.

MN Capital Group will host pension funds, fund managers, investors and other stakeholders for a dialogue on how the industry can support infrastructure financing.

The country’s main business lobby group, Business Botswana, has thrown its weight behind the event to be held on October 28. The dialogue is known as the Botswana Asset Owners Forum and will be held under the theme, 'Paving the Road to Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development'.

“This is a gathering for fund managers, institutional investors, investment consultants, wealth managers, high-level multi-sectoral stakeholders in the infrastructure sectors as well as expert advisors,” he said.

Ndinisa said the event is a step towards developing an ecosystem of asset owners, fund managers and investment professionals with an appetite to invest in infrastructure. The forum will also leverage the expertise of professionals as well as investors across Africa to develop infrastructure investment products specific to the needs of Botswana.

Some of the expected participants at the event include Debswana Pension Fund, Botswana Railways, Tlou Energy plc, Botswana Insurance Fund Managers, the Southern African Development Community PPP network, Botswana Development Corporation, Brad Smith Fairy Tales Ltd, Norsad Finance and others.

TB, given so much chat on funding where there was only the promise of a PPA to come, I suspect the lenders will say come back to us with a near-final PPA. That would I expect be one of the final checks that the PPA is bankable before Tlou would sign off on it.

He will never run out of words as long as he has idiots on speed dial.

A less complicated reason is all field work ceases until there is a PPA. Since once they have that, then they need go get funding which takes time. And that is when field work can resume.

With your dewatering theory, Lake Malawi would now have a rival in size. When one doesn’t know something, just make things up. Classic Worzel G theory.

As we hurtle towards another jackanory quarterly update report, I was wondering if anyone else has realised just how little talk there has been about funding conversations in recent times.
Tony and team have RNSed that multiple conversations were in progress with parties inside Botswana and outside. And some required a PPA and some did not.

Well, still waiting on a PPA and it would seem still waiting on funding from anyone …. other than shareholders.

Everything must be tantalisingly close now. Maybe quarter 4 2021 really will be when we cross the rubicon ….

Sorry Brad, I completely forgot Tony told us the Botswana coal seams were the best he had ever encountered. So good in fact that they would take 2 years or more to dewater because the gas is interspersed in bountiful abundance.
How could I have been sooooo forgetful.

Some people (ie the obvious one) will think this is entirely irrelevant to CBM and Tlou in Botswana. Fair enough.

Others will perhaps develop their agile minds to consider why Botswana has continued to buy on average every month for the past 10 years or more relatively expensive imported power from Eskom / SA…..
And now that the former President is starting to feel the heat in his own back garden, and because he is universally disliked with the greater majority part of Matswana, now he is running like a spoilt child and writing to a pen-pal in SA ….

And bear in mind, this is the dude that approved the Morupule B expansion, constructed by the Chinese. And guess what - Morupule B was an over-priced, poorly constructed, totally uncontrolled failure on the part of the Govt of Bots. When Khama was the man in charge. I wonder how much of the over-priced construction cost made it’s way to somewhere offshore….. Just as I wonder how much of the continual payments for highly priced imported power paid to Eskom is being shared across various cronies ….. in both Bots and SA. Maybe that is more the reason for the ‘emotional letter’; and maybe it isn’t …. Who knows ….

All good things happen in time …. Including the acceptance of CBM in the energy mix in Botswana. Once the not so obvious blockers for the past 10 plus years are removed. It’s getting ever closer …. but just not there yet !
