People are staring in the wrong direction at the moment due to the vaccine, but that makes it a very very good time to buy.

Been topping up on DGE lately, which has brought my average up to almost £28. They are currently a great buy given that we are still at a SP of two years ago and before that one could always rely on them to increase steadily. Those days will return in 2021. Meanwhile, the modest dividend keeps me happy.

Look at it this way, do you think that the price will be higher than your £79 average in two years? I bet you do, and so do many. The capital growth will come beyond any reasonable doubt. And in the mean time your £40k investment generates a dividend income of just over £90 per month (averaged). Might not sound a lot, but it's certainly better than the 33p per month you'd get in a 0.01% bank account.

Hi SaleSale, no problem. My big 5 players are all rather boring but they are all well into profit except for GSK, which is almost even if I take dividends into account. They are DGE 14%, AZN 13%, ULVR 13%, RIO 11%, and GSK 10%. Then there's a gap down to my next player LGEN 6%, in profit too and pays a nice dividend. Have a smattering of smaller players including SPI, which has been increasing very nicely lately. RIO has been a great earner as well as paying a respectable dividend.

I think so too, but should it somehow manage to stay at this level on Tuesday I will be increasing my holding by almost 50%.

Han**** confirmed a few minutes ago the the MHRA have all the information they need from AZN to approve the vaccine.

Don't worry. The blue days are nearly upon us and they will be mightier than the red days. AZN is now a gift for those with spare cash.

Don't know where the doctor (who is stating AZN's vaccine is likely to be approved in the UK next week) got his information from but Foxy's post certainly adds a lot of weight to this. Guessing AZN is going up tomorrow. Glad I bought more today.

There has been a steady flow of positive drug news from AZN over the last few months which has gone unnoticed by the covid obsessed market. Furthermore, their vaccine approval is imminent. I am expecting my Christmas present from AZN anytime soon.

Over a very short time scale that may be true, but on a scale of anything more than a year it is VERY hard to lose with AZN. You will likely be at least even by the end of January. Just don't sell too soon. The market has already priced in the downside (aka debt) of the potential deal but not yet realised the enormous upside.

When the market gets it wrong is when you can make the money!

There are a few shares that I would not like to be out of - it's too easy to miss the subsequent rise. And AZN is one of those (ULVR is another). What's worked for me and always keep my average comfortably below the current price is to top up on the dips and hold!

I like it! As it's given me a chance to top up without averaging up too much. For me, AZN is one of those shares that keeps on giving.

If this deal goes through at what is approximately $175 per share, then it's great news for AZN. My worry is that some might see it as too good a deal and want more.
