Oh goodness no, DJ. If I did that then I'd have to translate the German nearly backwards into English. Before I met hubby, I already had a good base of the English language. Through school and later studying Anglistic, which is in a nutshell English, but along with the history, politics and culture. I have over a few years after being married achieved a stage which is known as Dual-Linguist, which means that I speak both language equally well, but not on the same level as a Bi-linguist would do. Our children are both bi-lingual and speak both languages free of accent, where still have a German accent left. My hubby is on the level of colloquial English, which is great, as he could live and work over there without any problem and when he speaks German he sounds like a Bavarian trying to put an English accent on. Which is quite amazing, as he learned German in the Rhineland.
