There is a difference between stating your opinion and persistently feeding negative commentary into the forum.

Throughout today, you have made claims such as ‘I don’t see the appeal going anywhere’ and making references to Koovs and how their shareholder didn’t help. For informational purposes, one of our largest shareholders are the CEO and his brother. They have deep interest in making this work and their family fortunes are in CINE stock. So this situation is nowhere near the same as Koovs, where a single external shareholder was involved.

You also claimed this was a ‘financial hammer blow’. What part of that £700m have we paid today? Absolutely nothing. So as things stand, there is no financial hammer blow dealt here yet. Even in the event of that £700m remaining payable there are still many routes available to us to pay it.

The choice to invest or not is yours, but we don’t need continual negativity. You are extrapolating beyond reasonable levels and are considering the worst case scenario only, and also being persistent in doing so. You are well within your rights to report if you feel it is appropriate.

So now can you go back to SAE where you seem to be more prevalent and invested and leave the CINE holders to talk about the road ahead for the company?

Even if the appeal is not successful we are not done for. We have had more debt taken out over the course of the pandemic than this, and it is in the best interests of the debtholders to loan out a bit more if we need it :)

Hello Walshy, I’ve heard that the US fed has decided to not hike them yet. I also read in the news that the UK may delay theirs due to the uncertainty around Omicron.

I think with the interest rate increases, it’s important to remember that airlines in the UK will also be hit by it, as they have taken out a lot of debt too. The BoE will strike a balance between all of it, but let’s wait and see. Currently we were cash flow positive with 90% (remember that includes interest payments too), so unless if they increase it big time I don’t see CINE getting in too much trouble if they could achieve profitability right now.

A lot of them just departed at close. Tomorrow at open I’m sure we will see some of them again. Just goes to show the agenda the shorts have. We survived the worst case scenario in terms of COVID, and this court case will only cement the fact that CINE persists through all of this.

Today has been quite a brutal day to say the least. Not just the sp, but today’s bb has been absolutely disgraceful and not very encouraging.

Tomorrow will hopefully be green considering todays announcement regarding COVID. It is quite a shame that we have had some of our long time holders such as smalltrader and Moneypit leave today, but it is important for them to do so. I will miss both of them to be very honest.

Nevertheless, the remaining CINE holders here need to pick the pieces up and realise that right now, nothing has changed for the company. The appeal will take sometime and we will likely gather the money to pay if we need to, for all we know to could get overturned or reduced.

Let’s wait for Friday to see what the big boys have done in terms of their holdings. Considering we had a 10% rise after open, I can definitely see that some have taken advantage of this.

Cineworld will get through this. Even if we have to pay this £700m it’s not an awful lot of debt to add. I’m sure Mooky and the business is considering all the options, but imo bankruptcy is not on the cards for a substantial period of time, and that is only in the absolute worst case scenario.

Now we have a lot of newcomers to this sub who are delivering very negative news. In and amongst them there are the genuine CINE holders that remain (myself, Bonkers, KickThePuss, PrettyWild, BlueBuxton etc etc). I will be watching the language of other posters here and will be filtering people accordingly as we don’t need to hear the worst case scenario being shoved down our throats every 2 seconds.

Let’s filter out the noise and get through this together. We are not in any substantial danger right now. We have been through this sp before and we’ve seen how quickly it can rise. Remember Mooky is a shareholder just like us, and he has likely lost the most out of everybody today.

My faith in this company remains, I’m glad I topped up today. Let’s see what tomorrow and Friday brings for us :)

Hello bullsbears. At this price, there is no chance for a rights issue imo. The market cap is just too small and all of us shareholders (including Mooky as one of the biggest ones) would be very disadvantaged with not a lot of benefit out of it.

If worst comes to worst, I see a convertible bond coming out. It is sort of a rights issue but only happens when the sp reaches a certain price and we get the money straight away. CINE did one earlier this year.

CINE has very flexible lenders fortunately, and I feel like an additional £700m is a drop in the bucket compared to the £10.2bn we have in debt already. If I were a debtholder of CINE and they approached me for a bit more money I wouldn’t hesitate as we’ve seen profitable operations just 2 months ago and we’ve seen the massive recovery that is taking place right now.

The sp is dropping on a lot of uncertainly but in reality what is the worst that is going to happen? We lose the appeal and have to pay this £700m in many months time. How the heck are people contemplating bankruptcy when we have nothing to pay for the next few months (my guess would be at least 6, if not a full year). Cash flow positive and 90% of revenue in October is a good enough confidence for me right now. Remember we had half of this £700m in the bank in June, so likelihood is we have a chunk we can pay out of our own pocket and debtholders will happily cover the rest considering how they’ve been in the past. It is honestly not this serious as others are making it out to be.

Sad to hear smalltrader and MoneyPit have decided to sell, however I am glad to hear that you are prioritising your health first. It is absolutely important.

Personally I’ve bought a bit more. It hurts to see the drop and it’s put a damper on the day. But that amount will not be payable for a long period of time, and it very well may be reduced. We were burning through over £260m/month average during the lockdown period last year, so this result is essentially like 2.5 months of lockdown thereabouts, plus no payment needed for a while.

I think I will close up the stock app for the rest of today and go and take a breath of fresh air.

good morning bullsbears, the simple answer is we don’t know for certain. We had over half of the amount for the fine in June as cash.

Even if it is not the case that we have the money, we are appealing which will likely get dragged over many months and we won’t need to pay it in one lump sum.

First half of 2020 we were burning through £263m/month on average and the sp shot up to 124 after a while. I’m not massively concerned personally.

Would not hesitate to sell some US stocks later on today to pop into this. There are people with hundreds of millions in this stock who are deep in the red, they didn’t sell back in October when the situation was bad and I don’t see them selling off now. All this ‘leave now so you leave with something’ is complete rubbish imo. Nothing has changed with the company today. I can guarantee that this appeal will be stretched out for many many months and perhaps years, and even then may get reduced. If we had to pay the money today and on the spot then I’d think differently. I will be curious to wait over the next few days to see if any RNS of reduced/increased holdings emerges.

Happy with my top up, and may increase later on today. Sp pulled back over 10% now from 29.06 earlier, clearly there are people wanting to buy. All imo.

£720m is not out of our reach, I’m sure that some of it could be lent to us if we need to. Appeal will likely take a long period of time regardless, so the business may likely be in a much better position by then. All imo.

Judgement isn’t the nicest, but we are NOT fu*ked. This could have been a much worse result today.

Firstly, Cineworld is appealing the decision. No doubt whatsoever that this process could be dragged on for many many months (perhaps even years). The press release stated that we do not expect damages to be payable whilst the appeal is ongoing. There is certainly scope that this whole appeal could be done in a year’s time where we would also be in a very strong position to be able to pay this.

When you convert the $1.23bn to GBP, you get about £723m in damages to pay (remember it is Canadian dollars). Remember we had about $436.5m (£330m) in cash in June (when we were just starting to reopen, so inevitably will be higher now). With £330m definitely in the bank, we already have about half the amount covered from our own backs if we still need to pay it. The other approx £400m can come from lenders (if we don’t already have it) and I don’t see them having any issue with it. With positive cash flow in October, I certainly believe we have more cash in the bank than the £330m from before.

We might see a drop today, or we might see a rise now that the suspense is over. I must say I was a bit apprehensive at first when I took a look at the amount, but after remembering our cash we have and the fact that the appeal could take a significant period of time, I think we are going to be ok. Now with the first study of Omicron showing that 2 shots of Pfizer remains effective, we can finally focus on the exciting amount of revenue we are going to get from Spider-Man and the continued success we should experience in the months and years ahead.

I expect CINE will release an RNS of some sort later on in the morning before market open to ease the nerves a bit. Personally, I am heading to bed with not a lot of concern. This judgement could have come a lot worse. Good night all.
