I don't disagree with the significance of the Chinese though IMIC are just the frontmen.They are too small,but they invested at least.The railway is coming,the land is being bought up by the govt.There you have it.And Sundance will be dealt too.AFF will prosper whatever happens with their cash pile.

I was reacting to doctor's post about IMIC.There is no need to be concerned about your AFF investment on what I know at least.What has changed with IMIC is time has gone on.It is now about 6 weeks since they were regarded as among the 3 or 4 possible front runners to bid for AFF.Despite their smaller MCap.We regarded their Chinese backing and uptake of our exec. as significant.What has changed since ? Time has.Sorry my connections are bad today it is hard to access research to answer this.I'll do my best on here only. 1. from my post quote "mining looks a poor sector to invest in".That is of course a snapshot but though I can't access it now look at Interactive Investors iii Sectors see the low rating of the mining sector on a 1 day,1 month and 1 year basis.Also see many articles in Market Oracle etc.As I have tracked that back for months I sssure you that is correct not my imagination.Yes of course contrarians can get in anytime.But of course the world stock markets are at of near record peaks.What next after a peak ? The Chinese now that time has gone by have pumped IMIC for information about AFF now IMIC have given that up they are back to just a rather small company too small to take over AFF.The Chinese meanwhile are holding fire on AFF which I think they want,till the railway and Sundance is resolved.

Are really a minor player though they have a few loose connections with the Chinese who will not likely regard them as too important.Presumably any info the AFF exec. took has been divulged,plus other things IMIC would have gleaned in the time they were preferred candidates with AFF.The limited use IMIC were is mostly done now.Even the IMIC investment of 90p is under water though they should longer term make money off that. The real action is away at Sundance,not much will move till that is resolved.Several months to go till all the railway land is bought up by the Cameroon govt. who obviously believe the railway will happen.Mining looks like a poor sector to invest in now unless for contrarians,AFF being one of the few with enough cash to afford to wait,some others will be going under amongst AIM miners with not even with enough to last till later this year.

In my VPF all three miners are junk,staying sunk and are punk. All the rest,nonminers, are doing great.Same in the stock market,even oils-see below- are beginning to join the party.With major indexes at or near record highs,the BOE wants more QE to avoid a triple dip recession.But careful,peaks always lead to troughs..and when does mining ever get its turn ?

Yes of course the SP is tailing back slowly now,in absence of T/O news,however the level before all that was around 60p.It still appears AFF's assets are valued only on those well inland but there are at least roads to the coast from there while we are without a railway.Yes any mine would require a partner.AFF has enough cash for several years exploring and basic costs while waiting for action elsewhere,mainly the Sundance deal so a railway can be built.Unlike nearly all of mostly lowly financed AIM miners who are on borrowed time or will be borrowing!.

Re your Sat. post. 09.27.As I said in a post here the other week,Jindal had other fish to fry,elsewhere in Africa etc.About the railway,they seemed put off by not potentially being in control,China probably having that honour.Though the Cameroon govt. says equal access for all must be maintained for the railway when built.

I think also an answer is in the post from Myst1 Th 21.22."Nten cannot be priced into the current SP.Until now,Nkout has been AFF's main asset.." etc.So some majors and the market rather unkindly see AFF as mostly consisting of an asset hundreds of kms. from the coast,without a railway.So ignoring Ntem,and the possibility of road transport.However rail appears the preferred method of bulk transport another thing I mentioned in my previous post.I can see why.They just shunt each rail waggon under the hopper and empty the ore in.Each waggon holds several lorry loads,saving several lorries being organised and loaded.At the other end they might rail over a big hopper leading to the ship by conveyor belts,easier than unloading lorries.Just the bulk of rail wins out really.

For your answer look at yesterday.Great US figures-Labour totals,PMI's and the Michigan Index.Stock market rises even at a time of argy-bargy over the fiscal deficit.Mining however was down,most else was up.The mining majors,the ones down yesterday- as in my Fr.12.02 post are-"very interested in new supply sources.." but... ".. these majors are exceedingly careful to invest"... In the last while T/O's have been very few,I see the Glencore/XTA merger is being put back even though these were always partners. This doesn't mean anything bad here.We must focus on the excellent financial position of AFF and great assets.Probably also too the Sundance situation is what they are all putting off for..?

Links-there appears to be a similar set up both in Guinea with BZM/China and in Mozambique with BAO/various Western interests- Vale of Brazil and RIO of London.Each of these two has a projected iron ore transporting railway from well into the interior to hinge it.Meanwhile POSCO of S.Korea came in here with a MOU,while buying into the Mittal India interests in Baffin Island-no railway there now just roads once built,Mittal had also unloaded to POSCO and others their Labrador Canada iron prospects. Vital are railways for large scale iron ore production,only available to the majors.Points seem to be- 1. the iron ore and steelmaking majors are very interested in new supply sources. 2. most need railways for large scale ore transport. 3. huge resources are needed for these investments only available from the majors.. 4. given the poor climate for investment with recessions these majors are being exceedingly careful 5. the iron ore price continues to hold up. 6. many of these new areas with iron ore resources are hard to access and need railways.Baffin Island and Labrador are affected by icy winters making railway construction very difficult.
