The CNE share drop of about 1/3 recently is as wasteful for shareholders as throwing money into the Arctic sea,or maybe someone has tried that ?

HOC had 35% of Lake Shore shares,the last 6% of these had been sold in Feb. 2011.

a few years ago I was in Lake Shore a near neighbour in Canada of KGI.HOC then had an arrangement to buy more shares than they had in Lake Shore,however these were all sold before the large falls in mining shares happened.Luckily I also sold around that time,as my idea there would be a big takeover had gone from that point.Was looking at the respective company sizes and maybe one day HOC might come back to look at KGI ? I'm only guessing- no info. at all.GL

at least there has been progress since November from about 9.7p...small gains are being made though it isn't spectacular any day.

- I chose instead of averaging down to just stick elsewhere, and pick one other to make up the odds,I think I got it right with OMI for that purpose-nothing ever assumed of course.GL with Charaat too.

I was surprised when I read somewhere-might need checking-but it said that in the Greenland area as yet no company has achieved production in any mining/resources.Which shows the challenge even if they did find oil the extraction costs and methods might be quite difficult to surmount.We discussed this here about 1/2 years ago-how to get the oil from under a shifting icy sea in winter ? I see that Mittal sold their iron ore strike on land in northern Baffin Island to another company last year without having done much development.They'd withdrawn plans to build a railway at those latitudes.Anything metal needs protected from the extreme low temperatures in winter.It must be even more challenging doing construction underwater in salty icy seas. Cairn hold most of the offshore oil blocks near Greenland,perhaps withdrawing from most of these might be financially prudent ? They do in fact cost money to keep on the licences year to year and a condition is usually that a ceratain amount of working each year is required,this has to be mainly done in the summer season June-Sept.GL

9.75p to 11.75p since December isn't bad here.Again this is just in the foothills of any recovery,it was a few years ago at 293p.Which is the highest potential ratio of any of the 17 UK based gold or silver producers I track.

you don't seem to worry much about CNE going to lose well over £1bn- in two years ? The company was set up to be a VOD-type dividend paying utilty oil giant.With years of Cairn India royalties assured.And the I-gov. didn't initially want VED in the pie due to some other shenanigans allegedly.Most of that happy prospect was thrown away into oil-less icy seas.BG thought he'd be able win the jackpot a second time in his life.Of course CNE will still be a sizeable company but only a large sardine compared to a big kipper.

Thanks for the mention.We all need to earn a crust,either for its own sake or to counteract the heavy losses all AFE-ers have suffered the last 4-5 years.Thus it is essential to have alternatives.I believe gold shares will be that.If I'm wrong I'll try to stay in sharedealing,despite my AFE history and elsewhere.I doubt if many have made real profits overall the last few years which have been quite fatal. Yes we were attracted by brave words and high hopes,I was guilty of that too.Yes this once reached 17p which seems a far time away now.And there were many friends here who have now departed.I remember them all,those were good times. I said this was no better a bet than putting your money on a horse. GL
