HFC powered cars will surely be battery driven anyway and using a fuel cell as an In car battery charger, sounds overly complicated, bulky and an unnecessary risk carrying a flammable gas/liquid so close to a massive lithium ion battery. Can see it working on trains just not ideal for cars.
Klunk, read back through the thread, my post was in response to Daz’s question as to why anyone would choose an AFC charger over a Standard EV charge point. My post are regarding the infrastructure needed for on grid charging, fast chargers are simply not just plug in and play it’s a serious power requirement.
I have no idea on the cost of such works but it’s not going to be cheap, if they want 8 fast charge points with a peak load of 400kW how far back does the infrastructure change need to go? That’s enough to power so cope with peak demand on around 60 houses.
Infrastructure is going to be the issue, even some on grid locations would struggle with the power demands of a fast charger or even a few. Think I read somewhere that some are 50kW. If you want 10 of them that’s going to require some serious groundwork.
I’m not sure I’ve seen it produce an RNS but I’ve seen it produce a lot of chatter, maybe it’s getting late in the day and a trader is on the troll. We will see....
I think the answer lies in the interplay with the battery, a 10kW unit would take roughly 5hrs based on a standard DC fast charger being about 50kW. It’s a case of how many 10kW units are running, how it feeds into the battery, how much the battery can store and discharge and what the latency is between demands. I imagine this is going to be kept somewhat quiet until product launch, Rolec will have seen the tech and will have more answers than us PI’s. It’s tedious, stressful and still somewhat of a waiting game, hopefully some answers coming but I wouldn’t expect full disclosure until product launch. Rolec are the larger party at this point, AFC’s actions and disclosures will be governed by agreements with Rolec.

The the communication between Rolec and AFC started after the EV charger demonstration at Dunsfold.
This announcement is less than two months from the announcement of the collaboration agreement and Q4 is just over 3 months away.....
Probably a good thing, hit the snooze button, give the company time to move, re assess your position in a month or two. I’ve said it before but without news bumping up the google hits it’s active discussion sites like this that dominate the google positions meaning that any potential investors searching for content will only see the negativity, we don’t need shorters and derampers, ranters are doing a decent enough job of that.

It’s a bit of a leap to conclude that PLACE hasn’t been met because we have no contracts..... Southern is a contract so it must meet some criteria of cost effectiveness. What if PLACE has been met? Do you really want a big announcement followed by a period of no signed contracts?

Yes but place isn’t necessarily a test rather than a set of targets to used establish the cost effectiveness of running and the fuel cell with the sole intent of selling on the electricity generated from it.
I’m not even sure that PLACE is still a primary objective, we’re starting to see a shift in the business model and personally see that most of the action will be in partnerships with third parties using AFC’s technology in their own applications, products and services.

What’s the latest date for the report and expected date for the AGM?
Interesting on the “What we sell” section to see a 20kW output option next to a residential home, with the 2025 planning rules on new homes that would completely ban the use of fossil burning fuels, switching to on grid electricity for heating would likely double the average new household energy bill. Would a 20kW fuel cell with battery storage 1: be enough? 2: Be cheaper than taking electricity from the grid? 3: Be backed by some form of government subsidy or other incentives?
