Fair point.....I am thinking within next 6-12 months (max) before Newmont take over OMI.

Could be lot sooner though.

Just clicked.......if Gold is likely to head back towards: $1500 and $1700 or higher, then URUGUAY gold mine would be in profit also and OUT of care & maintenance.

As I recall it was only put on care & maintenance due to higher costs / oz due to low grades mined.

"All-in-sustaining costs (“AISC”) were $1,453/oz (FY17: $1,228/oz). The increase was due to the higher unit operating costs from the lower ore grades processed during the period and additional brownfield exploration."

....so became uneconomic for them to carry on Producing Oz at a loss compared to US$1280 Market price realised in the same period.

That would be a DOUBLE boost for share price, while NEWMONT get started with Anza in Colombia.

I can see OMI bought out on the cheap looking at those super high Gold grades from just APTA target which is only about 10% of the whole Anza gold deposit. Solg2 in the making here. But how cheap is cheap? 50p, 80p ???

No wonder this moves at lightining speed.

Buy when it is already Up +20% like last 2 occasions.

Consolidated around 9p now for long enough....about to move higher.

US 10-yr spike to 3.22% spooked Global markets.....signals much faster inflation than The Fed trying to make out. Faster inflation & Higher interest rates will keep US$ at higher levels....

Agree with you, NEWMONT being 20% owners in OMI can just spend few $$$ at San Gregorio Gold mine IF they want to get it back to production and take 20% of Gold oz production as their share.

* Another +$2m in next 2 years.

* Warrants exercise @ 20.4p should bring in another + $1.7m

Marky It's not the $2m Newmont paid for initial 19.9% stake, it's what they want from rest of the 80%. OMI share price was on the floor due to issues with low grade ore feed in Uruguay. They want to get access to underground ore but needed extra funds. Hence Uruguay's only Gold mine was put in care & maintenance while they source ore. Market marked shares down on funding concerns and was priced to fail. But turns out OMI investment in Anza during Gold bear market was their biggest saviour. What a world class deposit Anza is turning out with such high Gold grades from just 10% drilling at APTA target. So much so that it got the attention of Newmont who got in at 100% premium fighting off competition from number of other parties. Newmont paid CAD$4 per share for same 19.9% stake in Continental Gold. Wanted higher Equity but were restricted to only 19.9% by Continental. Continental's Buritica Gold deposit is next to Anza with production there on track for 2020 and expected to produce 253,000 oz per year at an AISC of $492/oz.

Chickendinner seems to be promoting Ggp on OMI board not realising many have already switched out of Ggp and into OMI. Bit of Buying pressure and OMI storms ahead. MMs keeping it in a tight range and wide spread for now.

Chickendinner, Nothing wrong with spreading your risk. You can invest in both companies side by side if that makes you comfortable. There is no rivalry. People make their own mind up. Folks simply compare different attributes be it GGP or Solgold, or any other company in the same sector. That's the only way to work out which one is undervalued/over valued etc. etc. Each and every share has a certain element of risk.... Risk vs Rewards and cool head needed for investing not emotion. I learnt that lesson the hard way on few past investments. Only myself to blame. Take it easy & play nice.

Its not share price today that matters......its whats coming.

Market re-rates on FORWARD potential.

Its the same as someone who bought gold at $1900 / oz at previous peak....today its down at $1200....but next leg could take it well over +$2000 / oz in my opinion.

* Dow Futures DOWN over -100 points
* Hang Seng has dropped over -1100 points in last 2 sessions.
* FTSE down over -80 today.
* Indian Market down -7% from peak. (Folks snapping up Gold coins like nobody business).
* US 10-YR yield jumped to 3.22% from 3% in just 2-3 days.
* China & Russia dumping US Treasuries at fastest pace.
* Fed Balance sheet has now increased by +500% since the financial crisis.
* US market ALL-time Highs.

Signs are there.....

OMI is Top pick for me coz of Low Mcap and NEWMONT on board.

Barrick/ Randgold merger came at the right juncture......before next Gold bull run starts.

Thanks for playing the 'saviour of mankind' card.........lol.

Genuine investors do their own research & due diligence just like NEWMONT did who bought EQUITY stakes in both 'Miranda' and 'Orosur Mining' in the space of just 2 weeks (end of Aug & 10 Sep 2018).

Paid 46% premium to Continental last year and over +100% premium for OMI shares.

Continental Gold CEO own words...Newmont wanted a much bigger Equity stake but were restricted to only 19.9%...........as we want any Acquirer to pay for all the Upside.

Wonder why NEWMONT paying Premiums and $$$ snapping up Equity stakes in majority of Gold explorers on the highly prospective Gold belt?

MMs want shares from us. With much more than 10x Bags potential Upside, not many willing to sell at these silly prices in my opinion.
