Not so - it is not UNUSUAL but it's not something that happens regularly - and it's never good news. However I have hopes here as the toe of the well , where they say the water is, is also supposed to be in a separate pressure compartment so if they can seal that off they should be in fair shape.

See my post of 14th feb - around 12-14 days if all goes well.... and yes we need a rig or coiled tubing - no-one is going to try any thing fancy from academic papers here - it's too important to get it right and that means tried and trusted methods............... anyway there isn't any of the kit etc available in the Uk for anything fancy

Heyco , the Americans, have backed EDR for over 20 years - they're not walking now I guess . TBH most UK onshore companies would kill for that continuity of support . And it's absolutely of no interest to Premier or any other oil company of any size. The last big outfit to get involved onshore was when Total took an interest in some of the fraccing - including EDR- but the bailed out as soon as they saw the issues.

Why? The reserves levels onshore UK are very low, the amount of time you spend is enormous, the BoD get 1000 times the flak and it's all personal. Premier have never been an onshore player ANYWHERE IIRC - their skill set is offshore. Quite why they hang onto the shares in EDR is beyond me - they got them as a tiny part of taking over someone else IIRC.

The Americans have had a large holding for years but again seem happy to sit quietly - they have some operated interests in Spain but otherwise are US based.

I'd guess thing might change if and when Mark Abbott steps down/retires but until then ... doze on....

Yes - probably pumping as much a possible out of the drains before the forecast weekend storm. I'm sure they could bring in a tanker in an emergency but finding a driver on a Sunday at short notice is probably tough

Once the rig starts to turn up - 3 days to rig up, one day to clean up the well (i.e run in and run out) 1.5 days for the PLT (it has to be run slowly to get accurate data) - results available immediately.

Hopefully they will have a range of kit on site to cover the most likely solutions.

So another day to rig up a packer, run in place & test (1 day), flow the well to ensure there is no water - 2 days . Spot Cement the end of the hole 1 day. Run the pump and test 2 days...... rig down 2 days

13 days minimum - probably 2 weeks....... after the rig appears

penguins - good summary of the seismic issues - it's clearly quite complex . No-one seems to be planning more seismic but IIRC IGas put in for planning on a location for "Godley Bridge 3" - probably a) to keep the Licence and b) to put pressure on UKOG to come up with a joint well near the licence boundary . This would be best for both parties TBH as any discovery on the UKOG acreage almost certainly would spill into the Igas acreage and require a joint development.

Thanks for the update - but that is not good news.................. flow rates for the last two months cannot have been as high as hoped.
