Because Heid I've been posting on here a lot longer than you have - I've been in small UK oilers for 20++ years

It was steadily getting worse ever since the mid-80's but what really kicked things off was Balcombe - this was going to be the first fracc'ed well , it was the first high profile well in S England for years, and it was in an pretty visible spot and close to the village. Plus Cuadrilla thought they could do it USA style and were stunned by the opposition - TBH they lost the plot. After that it has been downhill all the way - but remember that the story of Holmwood/A24 goes back to around 2007/08

Wiz- assuming the IoW doesn't kick the meeting down the road a few times (which seems standard practise in all councils these days) and the locals don't start a wave of law suits I doubt they can drill the IoW much before Nov 2021

Cynders - he doesn't have to acquire the knowledge - that's what the Planning Officials advise on - but, as we keep repeating, there is absolutely no reason why he has to agree with their decision. He is fully entitled to say" I don't think this is right for this area, whatever the professionals say - I am the local rep and that's my position"

As others have said that is exactly why you have LOCAL councillors and decisions aren't all taken in Whitehall. People seem to be in favour of development when its somewhere else and never when it's in their neighbourhood - natural but very frustrating.......
