Good article. If RED can hang around long enough, the RTO and fundraise should enable that, then the market, which is turning in their favour, start to order in bulk IMHO. The latest Grid failure should put political pressure on the NG's decision makers.

Thanks Alfacomp. The technicals are lost on me but the business connections are encouraging. To look at it the other way, what does RED bring to the party that has attracted Avalon. I was told by someone who attended the AGM that Avalon were more interested in the personnel than the IP. Certainly RED have a lot of guys and many of these are experienced in moulding RED's offering to the customer's requirements bearing in mind all the legislation surrounding the energy business in the UK and EU, not forgotten their presence in OZ which hasn't been exploited to any degree yet. In fact I'm quite disappointed that we haven't done more in OZ as this market seems ripe for what we've got.

I'm not sure what Avalon bring to the party other than an increase in overall size. They may have access to funding that depended on this merger but they don't bring money of their own. Their technology doesn't appear better than RED's unless Gen3 doesn't work which I don't believe is the case. Maybe their sales team is more on the ball and better connected. I just don't know and I don't think RED has explained that in sufficient detail.

Good podcast with a knowledgable interviewer. It doesn't sound as if Avalon are any further ahead than RED in development. I've heard that the interest from Avalon is not in the IP but in the personnel RED has. Certainly there are enough of them. The more I listen to these interviews the more I'm confused as to why there hasn't been more traction with flow machines. One small point but could be important. Avalon calls their units batteries whereas RED insists in calling them machines which might be technically correct but might create uncertainty in the buyer's mind. Calling them batteries is much better from the marketing point of view IMHO.

Why is Avalon valued at about 3 times RED's valuation at 1.65p? Can't find out anything about Avalon's revenue etc.

2 camps here it seems, those that think RED has a future and those that don't. If you think RED will get the funding needed and has a future why wouldn't you buy at these very low levels. If you are right, and it really doesn't have to be a mega-future, then the multiples from these levels could be mouth watering. There doesn't seem to be much downside unless of course the others are right and RED has no future.

Unsurprisingly I am in the positive camp but not blind to the possibility of failure. RED has good technology and is definitely in the right sector. All we hear about atm is the need to cut fossil fuels and increase greatly renewables and energy storage is inevitably going to be necessarily a big part of that. Lithium is a big part of that right now but can't possibly supply it all, even for UK needs if its going to be carbon neutral, so vanadium will come in to it's own more and more, especially as the price of lithium begins to rise.

You will probably need to join up for a free trial to access this but basically it says that asset managers, managing $20 trillion worldwide, have built up teams that are very knowledgable about renewables and are competing to accumulate assets in the sector. It is leading to asset price inflation, a bubble is the term they use, where assets are being competed for. Its the asset managers that are competing for assets not the asset competing for finance. It may well explain why RED has had little trouble in finding finance to date and why the likes of Schroders are still invested here. It bodes well for RED's search for a strategic partner. We still don't know if the partner will be a financial company or an industrial company like Siemens.

Statkraft have just linked up with RED in another potential project and RED has been picked to supply the storage for the Oxford EV charging initiative. Personally I don't believe in coincidences in business.

Hi M. Yes but it doesn't mention the EU's involvement. It is a Brexit point but the UK Government is subservient to EU legislation. Personally I think the EU will reverse it's decision but in the meantime we have this ridiculous situation where the UK Government cannot bring in sensible alterations to VAT levels to support the adoption of renewables and storage whilst trying to encourage renewables to combat climate change. It is like hiking the price of tonights European championship tickets at Liverpool whilst trying to get the fans behind the team. Fortunately ticket prices at Anfield are not subject to EU influence yet so Liverpool enjoyed a fantastic support from the fans which helped them achieve a famous victory. I had to get the victory in as it was a fantastic game to watch. Nothing to do with RED though I'll admit unless you appreciate that red is the colour of Liverpool strip
