Seismic can differentiate fluid form gas.

That Icewine is able to identify Discovered, prospective/discovered and prospective. Perhaps indicates that maybe more than seismic is being used . PB at one of the London meetings identified Flow cut testing as a means of ''oil shows'' they were able to apply this technique to some of the old wells but not all.

Modern seismic may be able to test against other known oil discoveries and those that only showed water. Water is needed to get hydrostatic pressure to move the oil. not sure if new techniques can differentiate or proportion the split of oil and water.
