We are all fixated, understandably with COVID, but COPD and other conditions will potentially benefit from SNG001. As sure as eggs, another respiratory virus will be along within the next 5-6 years and SNG001 is going to be well placed to deal with that too. Could well end up being a drug which is stockpiled by governments around the world. First, I’m looking forward to seeing it used for the immediate benefit of people suffering.
Smokie, I can’t quite see how this can be deemed a success story so far. The only reason numbers of infections dropped in some countries was because they entered total lockdown which is not sustainable. Three weeks out of that and numbers rise again. UK gov said 10,000 deaths would be a relatively acceptable outcome originally. Now, we are in excess of 40,000 deaths and all before second wave. We currently have no tools to fight this with. Herd immunity is a failed concept imo. To achieve this we would need most of the population to become infected, at least 60-70%. With no defences how many people would die?. Also, their is evidence to suggest antibodies drop off after three months, so herd immunity may well not be effective in any case. Too early to be certain on that but it would be folly to gamble on that becoming our policy.
Sorry to hear Bruce. Yes malaria is and has been a huge killer throughout time. Getting back to COVID, I believe it’s the current modus operandi to manufacture drugs ‘at risk’ even before knowing efficacy. You shouldn’t read too much into that. As I say I’ll keep fingers crossed for all of them but imo I wouldn’t bank too heavily on the first wave of vaccines being effective enough. Normally takes more time to produce a high standard effective vaccine.
Cautious Bruce not cynical. As we stand at the moment their has never been a vaccine for a Coronavirus or Rhinovirus. HIV has never had a vaccine for it despite it being around in the wider population since the 70’s. Dengue fever vaccination actually made the virus worse and was canned. It’s a difficult thing to do and to achieve high efficacy which is critical, even harder. I’m fully behind the attempts to get a vaccine but not to the detriment of therapeutics. The balance of investment has imo been wrong to this point. Best of luck to all working on treatments, the world and all of us certainly need it.
I know all that Bruce. Expert was Dr Fauci, one of America’s top people, reported on sky news an hour ago. I agree we need vaccine and therapeutics although I have always taken the Oxford vaccine news with a pinch of salt. Originally we were promised September, then we were told 80% probability of success by them, both of these have slipped. Combined with the mistrust of vaccines and the scalability they would need for it to be effective it won’t be in place anytime soon. Also politically with the USA and CHINA at each other’s throats and populist, dictatorial leaders in place around the world (Trump, Putin, Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince, Brazilian leader etc) it’s going to be a hell of a job getting all those characters to be caring and sharing. I hope like everyone else they pull it out the hat but I wouldn’t wager on it.
According to the experts they are now saying a vaccine could only be 50% effective. Not sounding great. As for SNG, the fact their market cap is stabilising well over £200m should attract bigger II’s. The shares liquidity has improved beyond recognition and clearly their prospects as a company. :)
It was well wrong at 36p. I think it’s wrong now too. We will see. I’ve spent many years in another discipline making money when markets are wrong. It’s doing research and coming to a conclusion that the market has judged it wrong that gives you value. The market will get this right imo when SNG fills in the blanks. First one is ticked and now it needs to tick the next couple. Then we will see it’s true value.
Good week all in all. Held solid at £2 then crept up gradually as the week went on. Covid results were solid so not a big gamble like pre three weeks ago. COPD news assuming it is positive should knock this up another whack. Looking forward to next week and breaking news on link ups etc. Felt like solid trading last few days and with Venrock building their stake this is only going one way. Good weekend all.
Crossed the threshold on the 5th, probably carried on buying yesterday, no real panic to there buying just nibbling. Good the shares are in sticky hands. Venrock, use to be the main investment vehicle for the Rockefeller family. We are in good company.:)
I agree there is nothing to suggest that AZN are going to go big balls nasty on us. Couple of years ago pretty much to the day they raised $3 billion to refinance debt etc. However, timing is interesting what with SNG soon to announce COPD trial data. AZN also have close ties with Southampton and obvs were in for us before with the Asthma drug before deciding it wasn't commercially viable in that scenario. Oh what a difference a few years make!:). Not saying it will be now but the tie up with AZN some point soon wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
Mikodx- the risky data result was always going to be the hospital trial and we passed that with flying colours. Amazingly well as the SP demonstrated. The home trials, when we get the data I am absolutely convinced will be game changing. That isn’t ramping that’s putting into place everything we know about early treatment with interferons. All the experts prior to those results including SNG and Dr Fish etc stated that early treatment was essential. I think it will show a huge improvement on what we have already which is still fantastic. Given we now appear to have tests that can give an accurate diagnosis in 90 minutues, this can only help SG016 home trial recruitment.
SNG may have to be patient with the home trial numbers, when the second wave comes it will fill quick enough. Basically what they have said themselves. Really not long to wait for news, good things are coming. And we are part of it. :)
Actually I estimate odds of an RNS tomorrow are 10-1. I was including weekends earlier, and we all know they don’t count!:). That is based on a couple of RNS’s landing in August which I think is reasonable to assume. COPD is coming in August and maybe pathway for drug moving forward. Exciting times to be involved.
I reckon we have a 14-1 chance of getting an RNS tomorrow morning. Very decent chance of Getting a couple of RNS’s this month and the clock is ticking now with August days ticking along. Personally wouldn’t want to be out of this as the odds reduce as each day passes. :).
I think our old Sheriff, Sharesting, rode off into the sunset with his saddlebags filled with gold. Like the end of ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’. :). Fair play to him and the others who have gone. Everyone had their own strategy.
Be interesting to see if the above have increased their shareholding this week. They didn’t start buying in till after RNS on manic Monday so a firm with a shrewd buying in history is happy to pay +£2 a share. Good enough for me when combined with the research we have all done.
I agree with earlier post. Only way is up from here. No way would SNG leave the door open to have egg on their faces with full disclosure of trial results. I believe the COPD data will be positive too and this will be used to support fast track application to MHA et al. Exciting month ahead. GLA.
