The United States Department of State announced the US is imposing sanctions on Turkey's Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), a government body managing the country's military technologies. The sanctions follow US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's call on Turkey to abandon the Russian S-400 missile system.t
According to the department's statement, the US is imposing sanctions on the SSB as a whole, as well as four individuals working for it, including its president Ismail Demir. Washington alleged the organization "has knowingly engaged in a significant transaction with a person that is part of, or operates for or on behalf of, the defense or intelligence sectors of the Government of the Russian Federation."

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCL) sent a letter to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday describing its plan to restart cruise operations from US ports starting July 4, including its SailSAFE Health and Safety Program. NCL will require all guests and crew to be fully vaccinated during the initial relaunch, complying with the updated CDC guidelines stating that fully vaccinated Americans can safely travel within the US. President and Chief Executive Officer of NCL Frank Del Rio stated that NCL agrees with CDC that "vaccinations are the primary vehicle for Americans to get back to their everyday lives". The plan comes after the CDC's Conditional Sailing Order (CSO), a framework for a phased resumption of cruise ship operations, was updated last week after being instituted in October.
