Pfizer Inc. has filed with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) a request to expand the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) it obtained in regard to its COVID-19 vaccine to adolescents aged between 12 and 15, the company unveiled on Friday.
Pfizer's statement added that the request was made based on "data from the pivotal Phase 3 trial in adolescents 12 to 15 years of age," which allegedly showcased the 100% efficacy against COVID within the age group with no severe side effects.
After the FDA request, the drugmaker looks to file for the same approval with other health regulators around the world, the statement concluded.

United States President Joe Biden called for an end of gun manufacturer's immunity for being sued over gun deaths, as he announced gun control measures on Thursday.
Biden asserted that if he could do "only one thing with regards to gun control," it would be to ban the immunity of gun manufacturers, adding that it is "unfathomable" that a billion-dollar industry cannot be sued over their products. He suggested this "accountability" measure should put gun companies on the same levels as tobacco companies when it comes to the harm their products can do.
Biden made the parting comments as he called gun violence an "epidemic" in the US, and introduced new executive orders to help curb it.

United States President Joe Biden stated on Thursday during a press briefing that gun control recommendations that he introduced do not impinge the Second Amendment in "any way".
One of the proposals is to treat ghost gun kits as firearms and have the key parts labeled with serial numbers. Another crucial point Biden made is to give pistols, modified with stabilizing braces, the "seriousness they deserve" as they are more accurate than mini rifles, which is what Boulder shooter allegedly used.
President urged the US House to pass three lawbills to close loopholes, including the Charleston loophole, that help to bypass background checks when purchasing arms.

As he prepared to introduce executive action on gun control, Biden said that "enough is enough" when it comes to gun violence, and that "the epidemic needs to stop." He also stressed that the gun crisis is a public health crisis, citing that 106 Americans die due to gun violence every day. Moreover, Biden asserted that the cost that comes with the crisis costs the US 280 billion dollars.
Biden made the comments in light of a recent string of mass shootings, including those in Colorado and California, as gun control advocates push for more decisive action from his administration.
