Tom think about WA. It is half of the continent of Australia. Literally 100's to 1000's of companies mining and exploring. I cannot see them wanting to set a precedent to be on the hook for restoration costs. Let's draw a line in the sand on it as you'll say "yes they can" and the rest of us will say "no they can't".

As an Aussie I like the Money of Mines sense of humour, perhaps only an Aussie gets it. I disagree they don't know what they're talking about though. They have mining experience that Charles does not. Horse for courses. Sharing their opinion here is like any others we share from Willem, Charles, Sprott, Sunday Roast etc. As you say the only thing that really matters is what Newmont and GGP do next that directly impacts us. Anything else is conjecture and we wait until the 5th March. I can't see an RNS being delivered before next Tuesday's town hall.

Huh? Where did you see this? Newcrest is the legal owner of Telfer, which is then owned by Newmont when they bought all of the shares of Newcrest.

Great time for GGP to buy an unloved asset during the 'bottom' of the precious metals cycle come to think of it. Hopefully it means we can buy it far cheaper than if the PM cycle and gold companies were loved by the market with much higher share prices.
