Yes I think this will bounce back today. Initial drop probably caused by traders who were hoping the results would incorporate an outcome from the MTA process

Each person can decide whether they think it’s positive or not. I just posted the wording because I thought it might help to show what the company really says if you ask them by email

I have emailed them and they have responded as follows:

“Our recent RNS’s have said that we continue to be in discussions on the PSC. Also, as per the work schedule we issued last month, we are very active on many fronts. Beyond that I’m afraid it’s not possible for us to comment at this point. We will of course inform the market immediately of any material development.”

A very proper response and I venture to say that those claiming to have been told something more (much more, in fact) are either lying or spinning an optimistic interpretation

Thanks. I don’t believe anything anyone says about emails from the company unless they post a screenshot. Otherwise it’s just people we have no reason to trust, and who have a potential incentive to lie, saying things that we can’t verify

Clearly you were short/out until about the middle of yesterday, then bought back in, since when you are passionately convinced of the absolute opposite view to the one you previously held.

In my view the lack of a further clarification this morning, and the fact that the Petros article has not been withdrawn or amended, mean that the most likely explanation is simply that we have had a disagreement with Petros, following which they want the project opened up to others, and we are left trying to persuade the government to overrule them

There have been, cumulatively, plenty of buys over the past few months; they’ve just been eaten up by the long placing overhang

Well if you are right, hopefully we should get another RNS in the morning, as the company must have realised the blunder by now

It’s certainly (a) possible and (b) the most appealing possible explanation. I’m not sure it’s the most likely explanation, given the company’s omission (twice) to give it…

It’s an interesting idea but I am sceptical:

- the Petros piece says Petros will offer the block to all interested investors, not that Petros and its JV partner will do so;

- if your idea were correct, surely one or both of today’s RNS clarifications would have said it?

Well, I think we can now take it that the Petros article is correct. The company has addressed it directly without saying it is wrong, so I must be right. Oh dear

It isn’t the RNS that has worried everyone, it’s the Petros statement. The RNS has failed to calm everyone because it is so limited/vague. But it is not the problem per se

Presumably that RNS this morning was what the company is willing to say in order to clarify. The problem is that “continuing discussions” covers everything from “everything’s absolutely fine” to “we’re desperately pleading with them to change their minds”

I mean, obviously the thing that has changed is the statement in the Petros article that the block will be put out to tender and given to the highest bidder…

Looks like there is a contractual dispute between Jennings and AMS and Jennings has responded by. taking the shares back, or at least purporting to. As to the detail of what has happened, who knows. Doesn’t really affect the company or other holders

No mick, if you watch the video of today the outcome was that the proposal was presented to Parliament and then immediately sent off to two committees
