The value of a company is not just its net realisable assets, it has goodwill (a brand) and potential too. The goodwill is usually the loyal customer base, which we don’t have yet, but we do have the start of a brand. The potential is reflected in the sometimes astronomical P/E ratios of start up companies, IT companies and indeed CBD companies, because investors are looking ahead to what it might be in a few years time. You might call this hot air, and to certain extent it is, as you can’t sell it if the company goes bust (that is income doesn’t cover costs over a long period and the creditors call in their loans), but it keeps it flying high while the new concept/ idea takes to materially come good. Of course some of these shooting stars burnout and fail, but some continue to greater things!
