Colleagues. Looking back - not too far. we acquired two small software companies which seemed to be closely related. Both the singular directors of each agreed to continue their work in their self-same properties. Something like six or eight months later, we acquired Polaris, a much bigger software firm who were featured in an exhibition as one of four overall winners of a competition and a photo was shown at this event of Gavin Williamson MP the then Defence Minister discussing matters with a representative of Polaris. I believe these events very much enhanced TPGs position in the software world. The decision to acquire Sapienza and later to increase the holding in the small company held by Sapienza will prove, and is proving, to be a shrewd step to improve the relationship between the company and European companies and governments. Sapienza already had offices in about six Euro countries and although not many might be thinking "Submarines" WHO KNOWS ? ----- Yours, Max.
Robin and Colleagues: Did I mention that Bowis doesn't finish of a sentence when being interviewed or on stage like tonight in Sheffield ? Journalists use shrthand to take down statements when news gathering and are often very accurate in thier reporting. The fear of being sued for giving false or fake news makes them determined to be accurate at all costs. Below is part of a report of Mr Johnson, our Prime Minister, the number one Minister to the Monarch as reported
by Mr Watson of the BBC.
"His claims about the number of houses the Tories have been building are met with some sceptical jeers, but Mr Johnson presses on and defends his party's record.
He's then pushed hard on why he won't release a report into allegations of Russian interference in UK democracy. There's clearly strong feeling in the audience about this.
"There is absolutely no evidence as far as I'm aware..." Boris Johnson starts to say.
He says he can "see no reason to interfere with the normal timetable" for the release of the report.
The questioner is angry at that - "it's not true", he says, pressing for more.
"This is complete Bermuda Triangle stuff," Boris Johnson concludes."
What can he mean by "complete Bermuda Triangle stuff. ?? ------ Yours, Max.
Rosey R. I do believe you are right The two recent acquisitions are probably contributing more now. The company with the test track in California was well described on purchase, but I must have missed the info regarding the purchase of rFpro. Do you have any thoughts on this company ? ----- Yours, Max.
Robin, Able, LSE99, Dogberry, Tino et al.
I very much appreciate posts on here, you provide information, you put meat on the barest of bones, you caution us about patience, mention confidentiality when needed, AND some times give us a laugh !! I have often visualised RH as the model for the sculpture outside Nottingham Castle, Able is like one of my desparing tutors in my mind, LSE as the teckie amomg us. Keep the good work going like Repair Shop on BBC which my son really really likes. ----- Yours, Max.
Adasta - like and approve your posts. Could you say why, in the interim report of 10th September a mention is made as shown below about "Pipeline".
Built a pipeline of sales opportunities worth >£700 million across many years
I don't know about you but this does seem to be clutching at straws ! ----- Yours, Max.
Robin __ Hold On lad !
Why is the G.E. Unfortunate ?? Your friend and not mine has stumbled aroound ever since he got to number 10. I think the market was well aware it was coming, may have inspiered it. ---Prologue of Parliament --- Declared UNLAWFUL by the Supreme Couirt. Shut down Parliament so as to have an UNCONSEQUENTIAL QUEENS SPEECH. Never, ever finishes a sentence because he doesn't know any details, would much rather say to any questions posed " What is this nonsence"
I will finish my nonsence in my usual way. ------ Yours, Max.
Quick question please. I searhed for amention of VRS, bur failed. I understood whe had a partnership in place with Tongshu.
Any thoughts on this ? ----- Yours, Max
Colleagues: very pleasing to read of the progress being made with regard to the Trade Mark. I assume, this will be recognised world wide ? Now that the image is in the public domain would it be possible to see an enlargment of it. ? You may recall I am registered blind (since Feb 2012) with a little sight in one eye only, hence the length of time it takes me to type and check my posts. ----- Yours, Max.
Dear Char: The BBC ran a long article on Loan Charges which affects people who have taken advantage of some schemes involving Off-Shore organisations, some 50,000 people it is said. Very briefly, people's salaries were paid into these organisations and then the perseon concerned received a loan equal to their gross salary, which included the income tax and National Health Tax. Now HMRC is trying to retrieve those taxes. Many people have been seaking advice from other organisations who apparently negotiate with HMRC, how successfuly, is not stated. if you were to google HMRC you may find the article. ----- Yours, Max.
Dave b: Thank you for todays post and your link. Very interesting, reading about the Flagship makes me wonder why the Conservative Party is so Hell-bent on detaching us from such vigorous institutions. It almost seems that the MPs of that party are determined to undermine the near and medium futures for British Industry, which many of us thought was there one and only priority in life. Perhaps it is fear of Garage/Farage that spurs them rather than the massive amount of evidence provided by the various industrial organisations since before the Referendum was mooted. Perhaps the economists and scientists were not as persuasive as they hoped to be. ------ Yours, Max.
Robin: If I may. Did you read the report about the wing cracks on Boeings planes ? We don't get to see the drawings, of course, but from the descriptions offered there seems to be an additional component fitted at the joint, as though it is an external stiffener fitted over the joint. My reading of the report is that the cracks are what they call "Fork Tips Cracks". I also got the impression the cracks can be tolerated, which does not fit in with my knowledge of aircraft. During World War 2 there was a government organisation known as "AID" who employed inspectors to examine aircraft in unexpected visits to the manufacturers, and a similar authority existed in the Royal Air Force. During the Berlin Airlift period, I, as a member of the RAF was required to make a substitute panel for a B29 USA plane where a crack had been discovered during service from the base where I was stationed. The new panel was fitted by the US service personnel, seemingly OK.
I can't imagine that coating over cracks would be acceptable but replacing with components with better properties as you suggest might be. ----- Yours, Max.
Welcme newa colleagues !! Jon Constable featured on new product, based on submarine work in which they are pretty well established as a leading company. As I recall they have linked up with two American companies and the French firm Naval with a view to increasing their range of atmospheric filtering systems. Let us hope they prove succesful in obtaining contracts in this field. ----- Yours, Max.
Mandrill: Have you had time to reflect upon your post of 09 October ? A multitude of reports, books, films and Radio and TV documentaries have shown the development of both regimes to the nth degree.
People who "Witter on" about parliament have every right to do so and are not daft, as you put it. I believe we are obliged to observe and care for the right of parliament to thoroughly scrutonise and cherish our hard won civil
liberties. Perhaps we should use the phrase " Liberty, Equality and Fraternity" in our political world. ----- Yours, Max.
Colleagues: Poker Chips mentioned Trade Talks as a factor, rightly so, other factors may have an affect, Gen Elect in UK, Brexit, Launch of Saudia Aramco set to be gigantic, US Sanctions on Iran, and now we find the threat of Loan Charges review being delayed until perhaps January 2020. OHHH Dearrr ! ----- Yours, Max. PS please do not call me a Jonah, I didn't cause or even report any of these.
A little out of date but may be of interest -- from Morgan Stanley.
Morgan Stanley lowers Rolls Royce target but sees 'compelling' value
(Sharecast News) - Analysts at Morgan Stanley marked down their target price on shares of UK aerospace manufacturer Rolls Royce, but told clients to look past the temporary costs related to the Trent 1000 programme and that their fundamental value was "compelling", even if sentiment was at a low ebb.
Yours, Max.
Whilst Rolls Royce pay a great deal of attention to their engines from start to finish, I wonder if colleagues have any rhoughts about the complete care and safety of the whiole aeroplane, in the same way. The case of the Lear aircraft which carried the famous golfer, Payne Stewart and his team from the Florida Panhandle to the far North West until its fuel ran out. with everyone on board dead, a single component caused the catastrophic resulf of the plane falling from the sky.
In the period following the Malaysia Boeing plane flying into oblivion in the Southern Indian ocean, it was thought, Boeing issued a statement showing that the airline had not bothered to purchase some additional items which may have prevented the eventual loss of the plane and its crew and passengers. SO. ----WHAT PRICE should be paid for the proper care and attention of the complete airliner ? ----- Yours, Max
Trek and Mr S. Burton
Welcome back Trek, missed your "Cheeky" slant on SOME things, please carry on. Mr S. Please dont hold us in suspense too long, I for one don' t venture on to other boards, you seem to have SOME news to impart, can' wait ! ----- Yours, Max.
Dear Able and Morbox. Calculations on the back of a penny postage stamp suggest that 20,000 tonnes of gold at a price of £1,200 per ounce would be worth about £1Billion. That amount of gold dumped on the market is likely to cause a severe depression in the price per ounce. Unless I am being too radical again. ----- Yours, Max.
Blue D
If I recall correctly, Mrs Thatcher Sold Off (or privatised) British Gas in 1983. Do you want Corbyn to try again ?
Why would you want Nuclear sold off ? Would you get a share in the takings ? Highly unlikely. I can't understand why citizens want to defen companies from being of national service to our communities. Many people say they wouild defend the NHS but deep down would like to see some profit coming their way. Why not properly fund the NHS, after all many of us cannot afford to go elsewhere for a so-called miracle cure. ----- Yours, Max.
In your enthusiasm to tell us early, for which I thank you, there are some very knowledgable and hardened posters on this board who seem to have controlled their wishes for expansion in order to make assessments that suit the facts. Hence the cautions expressed. Can you please enlighten us, as requested by LSE99 and take on board the comment by Mr S Burton.
An early reply would be appreciated. ----- Yours, Max.
