US Construction Spending Climbs 0.8% In November, More Than Expected

WASHINGTON (Alliance News) - Construction spending in the US increased by much more than expected in the month of November, according to a report released by the Commerce Department on Friday.

The report said construction spending climbed by 0.8% to an annual rate of USD1.300 trillion in November after inching up by 0.1% to a revised USD1.290 trillion in October.

Economists had expected construction spending to rise by 0.2% compared to the 0.1% drop originally reported for the previous month.

The bigger than expected increase came as spending on private construction surged up by 1.3% to a rate of USD993.4 billion in November after falling by 0.3% to a rate of USD980.4 billion in October.

Spending on residential construction spiked by 3.5% to a rate of USD542.5 billion, more than offsetting a 1.2% slump in spending on non-residential construction to a rate of USD450.8 billion.

On the other hand, the report said spending on public construction tumbled by 0.9% to a rate of USD306.5 billion in November after jumping by 1.5% to a rate of USD309.3 billion in October.

Spending on educational construction plunged by 2.0% to a rate of USD76.7 billion, while spending on highway construction surged up by 1.7% to a rate of USD93.4 billion.

It should be noted that spending varied for different sectors, but perhaps AECOM has a foothold in a number of sectors and will progress even more when using our products. ----- Yours, Max.

UK Mid-Sized Manufacturers Downbeat Over Export Prospects - CBI

LONDON (Alliance News) - New order growth for small and medium-sized manufacturers in the UK was muted in the three months to January, the latest quarterly CBI SME Trends Survey showed on Thursday, with British firms gloomy over export prospects.

The CBI's survey of 296 SME manufacturers showed that output grew at a pace above the long-run average in the three months to January, representing a similar rate to the three months to October.

However, manufacturers expect only a slight rise in output over the coming quarter, and total orders are set to be flat.

The CBI said 31% of SME manufacturers reported an increase in total new orders, and 23% said they decreased, to give a balance of 8%.

Meanwhile, business optimism dropped for the second quarter in a row in January, with export sentiment falling at the fastest pace in nearly a decade.

Please forgive the discussion with Able does not seem to be aimed at or with TPG specifically in mind, but I feel, we all of us don't want the company to be affected or badly affected by any disruption in the banking system. I do recall that the Bank of England (BOE) insisted on British banks performing "Stress tests" designed seemingly to ensure they had systems in place, as well as sufficient funds, to withstand any kind of threatened collapse in the financial world. The elctric heating you have may not have been a dumn move ! When my wife and i arrived to view this little estate they had completed about 25 detached houses but were concentrating on semis =, which we have. All the semis about 14 were going to have gas installed for everything along with leccy for lighting. BUT all the detached had been fitted with oil for everything, and what a mess happened every time they needed their bunker filling. My dear friend, Forgive me trying to show you something but I thought I was being helpful. I also studied Autocad but only managed one year, my son did several years doing Autocad Management and further studies. Each year of his course required him to purchase a manual which cost £500 each. You replaced Lithium with Valadium. Having taught metals in college I thought you meant Vanadium , but I found Valadium is somehow part of the " Gaming Scene" Is that correct ? I am no expert either. I am going to highlight a small part of your Saturday Post at 18.16.To highlight I choose the beginning of the part and press the left hand button on my mouse, this produces a different aspect like a cloudy background. I keep the button down and move it so as to make the cloud cover more of the text to where I want to. Release the button. there should then be a length of text highlighted. Now Look at the top of your screen for the word "EDIT" Press that and a list of options should unfold. Choose "COPY" and you now have that text captured. Next Choose where you to want to print it in your post which you have previously prepared. Click that point where the text will show. NOW back to Edit, click on it and find PASTE . Press the left hand button and the text will appear. MAGIC.

I also looked up Nick Hubble, he gained his degrees from Bond University in Australia, which was described as "Prestigious" It is a private not-for-profit University and in Australia is one of five ranked equally as 29th in the Thimes ranking. Trying to recall the situation that developed in about 2006. (1) The USA was embroiled in a vast mortgage scandal across the country with foreclosures being shown to be needed to wrap up what often seemed to be "Falsely Supported Mortgage Applications". Big financial companies like Wells Fargo were offering ridiculous deals to people who had no way of repaying the debts taken on. (2) Some of these financials then offered these mortgage deals to other financials like banks in the UK. These became known as "Toxic Packages" and some British banks were in a hurry to buy them. (3) Lehman Brothers in the USA collapsed and it appeared to many Americans that the world had collapsed. (4) Northern Rock in UK suffered a run on their funds and the govermnet bailed them out (5) Many large banks like Royal Bank of Scotland accepted a bailout by the govenment, except Barclays who arranged deals in Qatar and Abu Darbi [Spelling ?] Four executives from Barclays are due to go on trial.BUT not the bank as a corporate body due to a judge making a Private Ruling to that effect. ---- Yours, Max.

Thank you for your note on Beaufort and letting us know that going into admin cost you as a shareholder some of your investment. Did shareholders have to bear some of the Admin costs ? Rather surprised you sold only half of your investment. I agree entirely we don't know what is round the corner and that certainty encourages us to take precautions. Your analysis of the impact of the new contract recently annouinced, was, I think, spot on. except the value of £6.4M as stated jn the RNS, equates to £1.6M per year. I would hazard a guess that the training of the machinists on the new machinery installed is now complete and our production quality is now at least equal to that of the best in the UK and in Germany. Perhaps you and other colleagues with more recent knowledge than myself, would care to comment on how this may "raise the bar" as they say on future developments. I think we should take on board the comments of Able about worrldwide problems in any such future assessments.
