RR - good point. I have 2 holdings which are subject to bids at the moment (4 over the last year), and I don't think it's going to end there, particularly in the FTSE 250 stocks. At some point, the market will wake up to this, but Covid/Brexit fears continue to weigh on valuations for the time being.

Nuri - the focus on NAV (or book value as it's better known) doesn't make sense for an because it is open to so many accounting factors and differences between different companies. However, it might interest you to know that LGIM's return on equity (effectively return on its net assets) is twice that of Aviva's which would certainly explain why it's much more highly valued on this basis.

JohnC - Op profit from divisions is up 10% (ie before covid provisions). Where did you get flat from?

Consensus earning s for the year already at 34p, so 17p at the half year stage is about inline, hence no explosion in the share price. The long term appreciate will come as investors appreciate that this company will continue to grow at c10% per year, and that a PE of 12x is fairer than 7x. I think we could see £3.50 before year end, and £4 sometime in 2022 absent a market meltdown!

I thought one of the RNS's showed they had acquired a 2% stake, might have misconstrued!

Stock above £5 now, and I see that Marlowe is buying in the market. However, I think the bid is too cheap, and the cash component too low. Was hoping to see some other bidders come out of the woodwork but nothing as yet. I might start to reduce at c 520, and reinvest if bid fails and price retreats back into the 4's.

Like I said before, none of us have a financial interest here anymore, so by your own definition, you are also a moron then? You can't have it both ways - was I someone who has 'been burnt' (and hence DID HAVE a financial interest) or someone with no interest - can't be both.

Guess the events over the weekend make you wonder whether China will simply allow domestic Pharma Companies to develop drugs, and thne turn round and tell them how much (little) they are prepared to pay for them. Defo a risk I think.

Swanny - can you please elaborate on your comment: "...sided with the shorting hedge funds against their clients on Gamestop to stop the ultimate short squeeze." I believe this statement to be completely untrue as all trading on GS was curtailed, not just on oneside. I know this to be true as I tried to short GS and was not allowed to. The truth is that IG fully hedge positions, and hence would only allow trading in GS where this could be done. If they couldn't, then trading was curtailed in order to protect the business and shareholders. From a shareholders perspective, this is to be applauded.

FV - comparing Q3 results which also had YTD with full year results, shows that Q4 revenue 20/21 was £206m, so looks like down 20% versus last year? Also reflected in fact that 9mth revenues were up 66%, but this fell to +33% at the FY stage. So that looks a bit sobering?

Grotty - DT market cap is $7bn, not $18bn. Weirdly though, you're price to sales is the other way. I think the true figure is 25x (7000/278). So basically, I think your analysis loses a bit of credibility I'm afraid......:-(

I'm a Restore shareholder so was hoping for some good chat on the bid announced by Marlowe today. Looks like this is quite a quiet board unfortunately, but I'd be interested to hear any views. Most of us on the RST Board think the bid's about 15% light and not enough cash in line with Restore management views.

Company confirmed that the bid is rejected. I'm with them. Let's see what happens next.

So KItty - When it goes up (on no news BTW) it's reflective of a great company, and when it falls it's on no news and manipulated? Shares are not like pets (kittys?) - they don't react positively just cause you're always nice to them. In my experience, some balance, and self questioning makes/saves money. This stock is not being driven by fundamentals as yet, but speculation based on how much larger and more developed US competitors are being valued(which can also fall, and many think they will). Hence it's more about the balance of fear and greed on any given day, and the volatility will continue to be high.

I'll start thinking about buying my shares back below 5.50. It may never get there of course, but the volatility of this share suggests to me that it might.

Ah - here comes the fear. Could be a rocky old day today folks.

My view:
Bid a bit light - nearer £6 for control would seem fair to me.
I want a cash offer, not a (largely) ropey shares offer from some company I don't know. I trust the management here, and if they don't like it, neither do I!

So consensus eps was 94p so 1.08p was 15% ahead (revenues about 4% ahead.). Stock on 8x PE which is too cheap given these results. However, 2 things need clarification:
- Why was the dividend not raised (I suspect conservatism following TT acquisition, plus waiting to see whether revenues pull back next year)
- Exactly what they mean 'moderate' when considering revenue next year. This is critical, as the market expects revs to fall 5% and profits by 25% next year and IG seem to be confirming a fall. Clearly the 5-7% growth longer term is fine, but what will be the 2022 base from which this starts?

The long termers are the ones who make the real money. Unfortunately, they're also the ones that get hurt by value traps and bubbles. The stuff I bought yesterday with my DT proceeds is up about 5% today, so whilst this is extremely short term, I have a big smile on my face! :-) GLA

Little more 'fear' drifting in late morning. Stock flat now. Wonder what the yanks'll do?

If you a partner, do they also have a portfolio? If so you can sell in yours and buy in theirs simultaneously. If they also have stocks with sufficient gains and of a similar value, you can do this at the same time ie you sell DT and us the proceeds to buy stock X, they sell stock X and but DT. Everyone's a winner!
