One fund a summer does not make! They have about 300 DC funds! LGIM's asset management success is largely predicated on passive index-tracking, so performance is actually less of an issue. What's more important is to convince clients that their administration, range of funds, and quality of front-end web-based tools for members is class-leading. Jury is still out on this one, particularly when compared with Fidelity and some others.

BoHRoad - I think you might have misread my post(s). The switch is from DB to DC (not the other way around). As they generate significantly higher revenues from DB currently, the switch is likely to be a negative, unless they are incredibly successful at winning new DC money.

Yep, it's been sweet. I confess I've sold a few along the way having originally bought in at 60p, but kept most of the holding intact. Can I ask where you get 223 and 242 targets? Would this be from technical analysis (I seem to recall that's your forte Al?)

Understood GS. However, the point still stands - I am very familiar with UK pension schemes (DB and DC) and asset managers role within the pension industry. Currently at least, LGIM probably have more to ,lose than gain overall from switch to DC from DB.

Ok, that's pretty sweet dubious. I first bought in at £1, sold at £1.80, bought back in at £1, then sold at £4 feeling very smug, before watching with some horror as the stock rose steadily above £10!! Been waiting for some weakness ever since, which finally happened in March this year when I bought back in at about £8!! Sometimes you just have to run your winners and avoid the temptation to top slice/take profits if you want to make real money (of course, also a good way to lose a lot!!)

....feeling slightly smug. sold NCC at 343, bgt L&G at 204. Of course I'll have egg on my face when this (no doubt) reverses tomorrow....
