"Seems news is only news when given by RNS."
Congratulations, you have finally grasped it!
The SP is connected to the available information which is a mixture of official news (RNS) and conjecture. RNS carries more weight than conjecture. Conjecture can push the price up - i.e. up nearly 20% in the last month, 15% in the last year - but overall we need official news to drive the SP upwards significantly and permanently
Excellent - thanks!
I can't bring myself to buy any more because I have a family to support these days and have been burnt a couple of times before, but I am confident that we are close to cashing in now (in the grand scheme of things)
Godders - even if that was true, and no-one has a clue if it is... you ideally wouldn't release that information until you have some kind of resolution to the issue, i.e. "FID has been delayed because of X, we anticipate resolving this issue in Q1 2025 allowing us to complete FID in Q2 of 2025"
Let me ask you a question - you claim to be holding however many shares, and have been for a long time. I'm not certain, but I think you are underwater like most people here. If they released an RNS today saying no FID until Q4 2025, would anything change for you? Would you sell? Would you buy?
I suspect it would just give you an opportunity to tell everyone you were right all along
Are you expecting them to announce every conceivable outcome and possibility as it does or does not happen?
How do you think an RNS that read "We are still hoping for FID in 2024 but there is a chance we won't get funding, although we are quite hopeful! However it's not a certainty and we could be delayed for anywhere between 3 and 24 months but we're not really sure yet. We might not even be delayed, who knows! Fingers crossed!" would play out?
When it comes to regulatory news you deal in absolutes wherever possible - so until it is certain and the decision is made, nothing is announced. It may be looking really good, it may be looking terrible - but until something material happens then you stick to the agreed messaging.
Honestly, you guys are exhausting
"For those who have waited so long, the realisation is starting to dawn that Mr Market now looks at the oil industry differently. Like it or not the days of a 10 bagger are gone IMHO. I suspect when FID, OM and maybe even first oil arrive, the returns will be nowhere near what we came to accept as normal when Sealion was first discovered and probably be treated as a damp squib."
"Sam must hold the can for that."
Why is Sam at fault for the way the market now perceives the oil industry? Not saying he's been perfect at all, but it's a weird thing to say
My experience with RKH tells me the same as Oscar - OM will add a temporary boost to SP, so will FID, but only when we are ACTUALLY underway will we see anything significant and sustained
Bear - I don't think so, I'm not even sure who you mean!
I was BoroMatt on the ii board btw, not a poster of much consequence but I do recall a few great discussions with others at times!
I've been in RKH as a random punt (my only real investment) for close to 15 years, if not more. Not even sure how it came to pass.
I remember the early days on ii, it was a buzzing little community where someone like me could get valuable (and tbh, some less than valuable!!) information and it really did feel like we were on this crazy ride together. I remember the excitement every time Oilbrat posted, same with others such as BHLCF and Borgo. It was quite a time that I feel very glad to have been a part of.
I don't know if this happens often with people and their investments but I do feel some kind of sense of connection with this share and the people around it - aside from making some money, I really do hope RKH make a success of it. In truth I should have cut my losses years back and tried to put my money to better use elsewhere... but I just couldn't, and finally it is starting to feel like I might not regret that decision. Up The Rock!
Because we have yet to monetise the award, and no significant progress has been announced that would cause a significant change in the share price.
At what point would you have expected the price to move with any significance?
It constantly amazes me that fully grown men who supposedly have serious money to throw at AIM shares talk and behave like half of the people on this message board
> trading@11p for months now
More like a recent rise to ~11p on the back of positive news flow, after trading at 9p for months
I've been a RKH holder for a long time now, and maybe some of you remember me from the ii boards, so I hope this off topic post doesn't gather too much negative attention!
What does everyone use to get their RNS alerts? Do you pay for it? If so - why? If not, what would make you pay for it?
Context - I am a software developer working on a small project for some personal development, I am looking to make an RNS alert platform (e.g. subscribe to a particular company, when they release an RNS you will get an email/SMS/WhatsApp message with details).
I am thinking of adding some analytical extras on top - e.g. use AI to determine the sentiment of the RNS (positive/neutral/negative) and a follow-up price analysis (e.g. 15 minutes after release, price has jumped 10%) to prompt investors that they may need to take a closer look.
These are just my ideas, but I thought who better to ask than fellow investors.
Cheers,
BoroMatt
I am in a similar position to the OP - almost identically down to the number of shares.
If I just want to hold these and see what happens - what is the best course of action?
So, what happens if I don't sell them via the matched bargain facility - do I still own a share of the company? Is this when I'd need to get them transferred to paper?
Bit of a novice in this area, I'm afraid
Same, at a bit of a loss (no pun intended)
I'm a bit out of the loop, can anyone summarise what exactly has gone on?!
Godders with the hot take, where would we be without this kind of analysis and insight
> If she can do it then why hasn't it been done before? Shows what buffoons we had in place to let us be ripped off like we have been
Saying are doing are completely different things, as we should all know by now
She may be a better PM when it comes to RKH, but IMO she will be a poor PM overall, she comes across like a competition winner
