I can't muster a decent guess (brain dead), but just for you 1,675 bopd as first reported rate... but really could be anything...

I prefer using the Smart Engineering doc as a guide (been pretty accurate so far), which states...

"The flow rate in conditions test m3/d = 40-300"

Which equates to approx 250-1900 bopd.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing how it all develops...

If you look at the Smart Engineering Doc, it states testing up to 9 intervals per deep well (810 days max).

It's similar on the shallow well flaring permits, they flow test various intervals at different depths.

I'm not certain which method they use for control of the zonal inflow, etc, but wells can have interval control valves that can be controlled from the surface. I'm sure they have a handle on it...

Is from 7pm Sunday... Kaz clocks do not adjust for daylight saving (not since 2004), so BNG is now +5 hours (versus +4 during summer, when UK clocks +1hr forward).

PS... If interested in latest technology for catalysing non-soluble Barite Drilling Mud (Barium Sulphate) and converting to Barium Carbonate, i.e. making it soluble for > 80% removal, this looks good...

The results of this study show that the barite-removal efficiency of the new formulation is 87% for water-based mud (WBM) and 83% for oil-based mud (OBM). The test results show that the solubility of barite particles in 0.6 M EDTA is 62 wt% in 24 hours at 300°F. Adding K2CO3 or KOH catalyst to the 0.6-M-EDTA solution increases the solubility of barite to 90 wt% in 24 hours at 300°F. Thus, barite scale can be removed efficiently using high-pH formulations (pH = 12) to avoid the safety issues associated with HCl. Because the EDTA chelating agent is compatible with the polymer breaker (oxidizer), the filter cake can be removed in a single stage.

The concentration of the components of the formulations used in this study is as follows: 10 wt% oxidizer, 10 wt% K2CO3 or KOH concentration (catalyst/converter), and 0.6 M EDTA. The developed formulations achieved more than 80% filter-cake removal in both oil-based and water-based drilling fluids. For OBM, a water-wetting surfactant, a mutual solvent, and an emulsifier were added tot he formulation to remove the oil and to make the surface of the filter cake water-wet. In this study, two solutions are proposed to remove the barite filter cake and barite scale from oil and gas wells at different conditions.

The first one is using HCl after converting the barium sulfate (BaSO4) to BaSO3 by use of a high-pH medium such as KOH and K2CO3. Although HCl can easily remove the resulting BaSO3, the generated barium chloride (BaCl2) is a safety and health concern. The second method is to create a high-pH medium (pH = 12) using the removal fluid itself, which uses the EDTA chelating agent in addition to using K2CO3 or KOH as converters.

Regarding size of the field(s)... A bit more drilling required to have a better idea and still to drill lower Carboniferous and Devonian sections, so lots of appraising to do. GCA's BNG prospect report from 2011 had a max of 4.5b barrels and best guess of 904m barrels, main concentration is between Airshagyl and the Emba High.

BNG is one of the few sections of the northern Caspian region that has all three plays, can see at:

The A10 well, at a 2.8km step-out should be very interesting, if guess is correct, is probably half-way to TD by now, first main casing point at 2000m.

Happy belated New Year to all, better late than never ;-}

Great job on A5 by the CASP drilling A-Team, Baker Hughes, Smart Engineering and all involved... Have done us CASPers proud, cheers and fingers crossed the flow continues for a long time to come... Lessons have been learnt, now using a cemented liner versus non-cemented pre-perforated liner should considerably strengthen the well, thus preventing limestone pieces breaking the liner and invading the well-bore/tubing, especially when closing/opening the well flow.

Just wanted to add, no A5 flaring license as of yet, recent license was for pollution emissions for all the BNG fields/drills which now includes Airshagyl for 2020, i.e. diesel engines, sulphur storage etc, maybe one or more next week, will post flaring permits when observed.

Has been two weeks since whetting our expectancies, am now awaiting our exciting times, did say perfing and next acid was imminent, so please satisfy us loyal CASPers' curiosities by letting us know how it's going, even if still cleaning A8/A5 and what about MJF spud(s) etc.

I'm running out of cookies to give to Sati but hopefully weather continues to be kind for current works, has been good to us so far.

Tanker watching can be tricky and frustrating at times, can only make your best guess...

The time BK's been connected today, is far longer than would normally be required for 100k transfer, even if it's only 10k per hour transfer rate... Whether she's was empty on arrival, can only guess that was.

The only other info I can add, BK has max draught of 11.52m, Kraken crude is so heavy, that 215k of Kraken crude is all she can hold, if it was a lighter, say 38 API crude she could fill her tanks with 250k barrels.

Hey all

Betty's been in place almost 12 hours, so maybe nothing was offloaded from Enquest Producer and came to AK empty, in that case could be offloading approx max of 230k barrels, leaving around 100-150k in AK.

20k per hour is a typical rate observed for AK offload rate to the larger shuttle tankers.

FAO: Hitman1a re Maureen Sands, If you already have the vessel in place, it does make sense to see what can be recovered, especially if a decent amount.
