RE: Can anyone explain....25 Sep 2018 20:02
Its the way MMs always (well the good majority of the time) advertise the spreads on small AIM stocks. Usually the quoted prices move in fixed increments, eg here its now 0.1p - in the past we only moved in quarters.
So a move up from 1.8-2.0 might be 1.9-2.0 or 1.8-2.1 etc. If we were to see trades of 2.000p happening, the next stage might be that you cant get an online quote, or the bid is pushed up to the next level.
Unusually the actual offer today has been over 1.9p, but there is a reluctance to narrow the spread quoted. Maybe they're actually thinking in 0.2p increments when volumes are lowish.
I'm guessing a bit, but never expect to see a spread as accurate as 1.93-1.98p on this on any similar stock!!!
