There is no master stroke in giving away an undervalued percentage of a proven asset for a hope. It may help short term, but long term it's not a good deal. I still think there is a lot to be positive about here but NR is not one of those I'm afraid.

Totally agree Bluepeter with what you are saying and it is hypocritical, but also the reality of what BT is up against.

OFCOM may be one of the reasons for the shareprice fall in our minds, but I dont think they will be taking that view when it comes to an easy come back if BT say they aren't able to invest maybe as much as OFCOM would like them to whilst paying a high div.

For me Chris I think its a question of what BT invest in the network/charge for products balanced against what they pay to share holders. The amount may have not changed in value, but trying to justify a 6.6% return for shareholders to OFCOM may become questionable in their eyes. I'd be surprised if they do cut the divi myself after promise of a progressive dividend strategy, but I can see why the markets might be worried about the possibility.

That's one hell of a rant and I agree with some points and sentiment. 'No doubt something else that has been festering will be announced shortly.' Better not to post such assumptions without fact.
