The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
London is the first city in the world to implement a 24-hour, seven day a week Ultra Low Emission Zone, inside which vehicles will have to meet tough emissions standards or face a charge.
Many were sold a lie in believing diesel was the future. These cars/vans will depreciate far quicker now. EV s will hold their price for far longer. The revolution to electric is just beginning.
Very interesting interview with Mark Jarvis, CEO.

Very much needed for EV batteries too. We have some.
Worth keeping an eye on the copper price which is on the rise. Also on those larger copper explorers who are in a similar boat to us as we both watch and wait for the kick off!
From Billy's post: 'Russian govt very keen to get road built as will aid forestry industry to China as well as serve other potential mines locally.'
In November I asked RY if other companies may benefit from the road and if so can't it be jointly funded. He was reticent. I then said if AMC has to fund the road can we charge others to use it. He said potentially yes.
I've always felt that the Russians are playing hard ball with the road. They need it built but would love someone else to pay for it. Any investors in AMC would prefer the road to not be part of the deal .They will see it as a multi purpose facility and not solely for AMC.
Thanks to those who went and posted feedback here. I'm more encouraged that I've been for some long while.
Very encouraging. If true about the Nickel shortfall and demand for one KM deposit needed per year from 2025 then....we're superbly placed.
He predicted that in November and I made a note then. Good to see him still convinced.
What I'd really like to see to see is institutional investors buying up shares here. That would bring much needed confidence.
to buy.
'The PFS establishes that Kun-Manie is technically and economically viable for the two production scenarios. Being a sulphide deposit, the technical risk related to the generation of a final nickel product in both cases is substantially reduced from that of lateritic nickel deposits.
These Options utilise industry proven mining approaches, proven sulphide flotation methods in concentrate generation and the subsequent treatment of the concentrate based on proven metal extractive practices.'
- That's the crux. The PFS says we're viable.
' Total free post tax cashflow of $2,041 million'
Over 15 years?
At the last AMC presentation I asked Paul Mckay (Chief Financial Officer) if he thought we were viable without EVs.
He gave me a resounding 'yes'.
The demand for Nickel in EVs is clear and has made us all look to new car technology as a route to SP gains. But with this answer I remain confident that we're not dependent on it for success. The mystery remains why investors are so slow in coming forward.. It's hugely frustrating.
Denzle - fancy a meet to discuss your comments and advice to LTHs? I'll take you for a few beers and we can have a chat.
Let me know.
AmurTigers
Poor people feel sorry for you missing the boat.
With respect, many of us have been afloat the good ship AMC for some years. At times we've lost our rudder AND our paddles. So excuse our tendency towards caution when we think we see the Chinese Navy on the horizon....
Call me old fashioned but until we see an RNS stating same then I'll be sceptical. This may be regurgitated news. And yes I'm a LTH.
There's nothing |I'd like more than an investor be they Chinese or Martian take us forward.
I hope you're right but it's all speculation until we see an RNS confirming an agreement.
It's obvious Russia wants to see Chinese investment in this region. Let's see the figures and terms.
Yesterday was great for traders but us LTHs need concrete evidence of a Partner.
will only be confirmed via an RNS. All else is conjecture but very encouraging nonetheless.
I was talking to an Uber driver today in London who needs to buy a new car... TFL are aiming to have EVs used exclusively for taxis. Even hybrids will no longer be exempt of the congestion charge.
Alex Williams, TfL’s director of city planning, said: “Bold action is required to tackle London’s public health crisis. The taxi and private hire trades are central to reducing the filthy fumes circulating in our city. This package of measures will contribute to fewer vehicles driving where pollution is most concentrated and encourage the switch from diesel to electric.”

I'm with Barclays. Not paid. Par for the course with Barclays I'm afraid. In the recent past I've had repeated requests for a meeting with someone senior denied.
Also saying ex Div 14/2/19.
I couldn't attend either. Agree with Noloss the previous meeting was well worth it. Be nice to see more folk next time.
At the event in Mayfair the other week I asked RY about other technologies replacing the need for Nickel batteries.
Paul Mckay said that companies were investing billions into the EV Nickel R&D and would not be doing so if Hydrogen was a near possibility. His estimate was that other types of batteries wouldn't come online for 15 years.
I'm confident that article is 7th December. The date format in Russia is the same as ours.
Great find Bob!
