A competitor goes out of business and it's Tcg that gets hammered the most??

I am amazed that you didn't know Tcg operated in the German market!!

Isn't it strange that our hot summer hasn't been a big problem for Tui whereas for Tcg it's been a massive problem!! As I said before I believe there are underlying problems that are being smokescreened by Mr F!!

To me there has to be serious internal problems in Tcg whether this is managerial or economic The way the sp has rapidly declined over the past few weeks , far greater than any of its peers in the same economic and global conditions , has to indicate internal problems. There must be some underlying problems that we are unaware of. Mr F is also hinting at negativity into next year and in effect indicating further decline. What worries me is I just cannot see a way forward without that huge debt being eliminated and the only way that would happen is if a huge investment was made by a company taking Tcg over. Will that happen? Well they are not attractive at the moment but what they do have is the brand name. They survived a few years ago by re-financing but only with the help of RBS and David Cameron. RBS at the time being in public ownership and David Cameron publicly stating he wouldn't like to see the great name of Thomas Cook go under.

That this is mainly down to the UK hot summer is ridiculous. Are Tui in hot water? , is Otb suffering? , is Dart diving? NO they ain't!! There is a smokescreen being put up by Mr. F here to thinly veil obvious serious internal problems in the company.

I have been an investor of Tcg for a long time as i have always had a great belief in the brand name. But this year having had both the Tc holiday experience and the Tui holiday experience i have to say the comparrison is like chalk and cheese. Tui fight on time and service throughout flight and holiday very good. Tc flight over 5 hours late and service throughout flight and holiday poor. Dont like to say it but Tui would be my first choice now everytime. What on earth has happened to the once great brand of Tc?

Strange update on News At Ten regarding the deaths of the British couple in Hurghada. TC now saying the circumstances of the deaths is unclear and that they are removing all their guests from this hotel and offering either alternative accommodation or flights home!!

Completely understand the point but nothing definite seems to be materialising as yet. Are Fosun just averaging down because their running at a loss at the moment?

Any idea what their percentage holding is now?

And Turkeys woes at the moment as regards their currency crisis isnt now helping. Tcg have had a massive surge for Turkey this year and yes its great for tourists getting an increasing exchange rate but it could soon turn into a massive crisis for Turkey which could easily lead to unrest in the country and in turn deter tourists once again. There's always blumming something isn't there to make matters worse!!

Only Tcg doing this level of drop consistently compared to its peers! Why? I think ultimately its that massive debt which makes them more vulnerable to negative events.

The sp would have been 120 by now , even on a rumour , if there was any truth in it whatsoever!!

Well no surprises there then. Great start to the day and the what's now becoming the norm finish. I think now the bones have been picked out of the statement , it is being realised that offloading part or all of the airline is not the way to go , it is too important to Tcg to lose and Mr F is confusing the issue by saying there are no plans to offload at the moment when it is obvious now that they are planning it!, A quick fix to reduce debt is not the answer to TCGs conundrum.

My two main points from this stateement ----"Bookings for the summer are up 11% overall fuelled by strong growth in our group airline" and "Operating profit to be at the lower end of market expectations" Selling any part of the airline will now be seen as a big negative as it has obviously helped growth and in my opinion would be ridiculous and stupid and reduced operating profit prediction another big negative. Don't expect much blue movement in the foreseeable future.

If it's a donkey then I agree , but is it? If it is then it would be bought cheaply by someone! I can't help but feel there's an air of desperation about it from TCGs point of view. Hope I am very wrong and it turns out to be a fantastic strategic move by TCG. I suppose we will get an early indication from how the market responds tomorrow , one way or the other!

Paying down debt is a very good thing but you have to balance that with the cost of doing it , ie the loss of an asset.

Smacks to me of a bit of desperation in order to reduce massive debt. In my opinion this can only be bad news. Tcg have discussed this before but nothing came of it ( and imho rightly so ). Having their own aircraft for me is a massive asset for them and having less will ( imho ) expose them more to their competitors.

There has to be something very specific to Tcg causing this level of sustained drops!! Just don't know what it is. No doubt something will come to light in the near future!!

Is it Q3 update next week? I dread to think what F will be saying if it is and I dread to think what could happen to the sp after the recent ( for no apparent reason ) sustained drops. If 90 is hit then I can quite easily see 80 looming. But eventually Tcg will come good , so hold in there and wait for the good times. It's just taking much much longer than I ever thought it would but Thomas Cook is a fantastic brand so keep the faith.
