In the semi-conductor sector, we see limited diversification in returns over the last 12 months. Since January last year, the sector has lost 25 percent. Among the winners are Advanced Micro Devices, Nanoco and Integrated Device Technology. There were quite a few losses for Frontier Communications Smart Technologies, Ams AG and Meyer Burger Technology AG.

In terms of the price-earnings ratio, we see a wider range. The Smallcaps are the most expensive with an average price-earnings ratio of 19. The cheapest are the Microcaps (0). IQE, CML Microsystems and Aquantia are the stocks with the highest price-earnings ratios. Stocks with relatively low price-earnings ratios Micron Technology, Ichor Holdings and Siltronic AG.
