Okay Qd22... I ve seen shorters act on four shares I own....ACA,,,,CRST....IQE....AND NOW HERE! Basically I predict the share price to be suppressed for a long time. It appears to me that they dont short no hopers like Purplebricks or Sdry. But shares that have once flown but have had a dip. However the dip is usually due to some internal issues in the company not just a market malise. There has to be light at the end of the tunnel. This is how it works. Mr SHorter borrowed shares in the target company for a fee. At some point they sell these shares on a down swing. THe shares fall more. THe operator then buys more shares but cheaper. The shares at some point rise ..hopefully higher than where they originally borrowed them. They can then return the shares to the original lender. SO the Lender makes money by fees and the borrower by buying back in at a cheaper price and selling higher. So is there some bad issues in ACSO that isnt public . Certainly the PE ratios have and are still very high. It has to be more than just market sentiment at play here. The problem for the long holders like us is that the operators like Black rock have very deep pockets. They can increase their short holding in order to get their desired effect....I hope that makes some kind of sense...
Thanks for bringing our attention to activities outside Tanzania. I was not aware of these . Ask a layman in the street and they would say only South Africa has gold mines....but we have Egypt, Kenya, Mali, Ghana,SerraLeone CD-R, Nambia , Zambia...and others I ve forgotten. So where are Acacia s interests outside Tanzania.? Having read yours and Bens replies I m holding.......
Supercharger...Thank you that is so well put. When I read The financial press its always with a good heap of salt.
And we must plough our own farrow. Having said that we can expect our resolve to be tested.
This project of being a Private Investor does that.
As mentioned here the facts in the article are what we are all familiar with already. I suppose if you wanted to buy fresh Gold stocks to your portfolio and you wanted exposure to a rise in gold you would buy elsewhere. But all these current events in the life of Acacia has made it a poker stock. And I guess the poker player in me is attracted to that.
Having said that Big Bang (Is it Ben I believe) here's the last paragraph of the Investors Chronicle article in full for your comment......
" As we said in February ,it's hard to see why Acacia s minority investors might back the mooted framework deal, which would further debate the stock and placate an unpredictable counterparts.
As such, we do not share the optimism of NUMIS, which expects a resolution to come with a meagre $300 m hit in 2019 (see table... Sorry no table). and Acacia s retention of 84% ownership of its mines.
We expect Tanzania to drive a harder bargain. Sell."
I read that Investors chronicle have advised a SELL on Acacia. Please those that are well read on ACA and read this weeks article what do you think they have got wrong At Investors Chronicle. It would be nice to hear the arguments rather than simply shooting the messenger which can happen on these posts.Cheers.
Thanks John. Not many posts here so great to hear from you. From what you read are there any draw backs going to Aim.. To be honest I thought they were AIM already.! I realise many of the groupings overlap . It's confusing when in AIM you see say. SPX with a cap of £4bil and others with a lot less than £20 mil. Have you got your head around the factors that influence where a company is listed? Best.
Dear Rocka....if I m not mistaken the blurb that was issued with the IPO back in 2017 focuses not on Graphene but on this copper foam. This gets forgotten in the enthusiasm for Graphene. May be you can enlighten us where Versarien is now with the copper foam development ? Basically it makes the transfer of heat more efficient in heat exchange technology?
I va just read the Jefferies broker note issued back in May. They predicted target price of 78 pence. The other brokers target was say 440 issued back in September. Is it safe to say Jefferies is more correct and the others are say being "persuaded" by the institutional fund holders to put a spin on things.? Cause if I were Neil Woodford or Axel I ll be underwhelmed by all this performance....
Cheers for that !...did the markets react positively on this news?
I havint looked here a while but pray tell me is there still no body in charge of finance at IQE? Well on the bright side no funds can be embezzled a la Patessie Valerie.......or....? Please someone some good news here....
Dear Rock ......6445 posts I see ! Well I think you should receive a few Vesarien free shares or may be an invite to go on strictly Come Dancing! Seriously I too have been here since buying in at 13.5 pence. And I ve bought in several times as it dropped from 180 to say 111. So we saw it ossilate between 9 pence and 30 pence for ages. Then it leaped frogged to 40...50...80..90 and then over into the pound plus range. So history will repeat itself. This time next year it will be 2 quid plus. So two extreme scenarios to prevent this. The demise of The chief executive or the discovery of the mass production and patenting of Graphene production . The former resulting in the share plummeting and the latter resulting in 5 quid shares! We must remember that Graphene is marvellous but the production technique is still in its infancy. Look folk not an anacroym in sight. Say what you mean, mean what you say! Steady as a Rock she goes....
Does anyone know how savvy the Lease details of the stores might be. . .? For instance any break clauses ? Any allowance for sub letting? Was it in Berlin that Sdry had to share their share floor space as they had bitten off more they could chew..?
In the last year When I ve sold it has been very obvious to sell. Crest Nicholson when I saw They could not sell flats in a development locally....and it was shorted. Whitebread when they had risen enough. But here Superdry are rock bottom. There are no shorters . But my local Brighton store is too big and empty. We have a really warm October so little cold weather buying of stuff. And every post written here provides no joy. Are there any bears out there .? Or should we just sell and be philosophical.....and stop praying for a white knight?
I ve checked Short tracker and was surprised to see there are no outfits that have an interest in Superdry Group. Having said that any interest under 0.5% is not listed here. Has anyone seen any Shorter activity ?
I can report that the Crest Nicholson development of ARTISAN in Bn3... That's a top demand ares, has been sold to Southern Housing Group for an undisclosed sum. (SHG). Of this prestige development 5 flats were sold while the sales office was open. The sales office was closed without warning in July. So 42 remaining flats were sold to SHG . All these remaining flats are on the market on a shared ownership basis.
As far as I remember the original dispute goes back to the discovery of under reporting of the gold content of the dore or concentrate that was exported by ACA . Can someone enlighten me why Gold dore or concentrate was exported as opposed to gold bars? Are the smelters very expensive? IS the export of gold concentrate a common practice from other production areas in the world? Does BArrick Or Ransgold export dore from anywhere else? Is it a political or economic decision on the part of ACA? If Ransgold Barrick build a smelter would that partly pacify the Government of Tanzania??
Well I bought here at 108 waiting for the rebound that happened before. I m still waiting . meanwhile the shorters have moved in. Do I dispose them. Certainly not. They buy short I buy long. Theiy risk to loose their pants for in theory the price can increase with no limits. As a long termer my looses are limited to a zero price. So let's not kid ourselves that we are all here to make dough. In a market if you gain then someone else looses. If you sell your shares someone else see s value and buys. The rest is hot air. So I m hanging in here waiting for the messiah rise. For that is how we see the appointment of a new FD. He comes I go to greener pastures......
Regarding gold if you have the time go ACACIA mining ACA . I am a holder here and we holders have been in a tailspin from over 550 18 months ago to now about 131. They were below a pound. Since Barrick the major owners of ACA have announced a merger with Ransgold we are rather excited that the SP is finally moving . Have a look at ACA s chats.....it's very informative as here. So everybody when the top up time here ?!!
I wonder is it possible to arrive at a figure of the. Average book cost of the Landbank? This would shed some light on what pressures CRST are under to obtain completion prices.....
This may have been touched upon before but just to ask the wise ones here....Investors Chronicle have advised a sell on Rangold. "arriving at a 9 per cent drop in gold prices this year and an even worse one for gold stocks ,the logic for the merger is as much defensive as its synergistic. They quote the Aca dispute and " Rangold is at loggerheads with the government of the Demogratic republic of Congo over the effects of a new mining code on its Kigali mine and has faced a series of strikes at its Tongan mine in the Ivory Coast " I know little of the latter but I was hoping this new team could deal with the Government of Tanzania with tact that ACA lacked. But I fear it's not as I hoped. I am also weary how Lomnin have struggled with labour relations in their mines....and look at their downbeat SP, So my question is how does this downbeat view of Rangold affect Us here at ACA.?..
