I asked a question in the online Q&A regarding the timings of the FS and DTM and Shaun’s answer seemed to imply, to me anyway, that a delay in either wouldn’t hold us back continuing to ore extraction anyway. I was surprised by the answer because I thought we might need them for regulatory approvals, but pleasantly surprised.
There ain’t no stopping us now.

TBH I’m still struggling getting to grips with it after a long day.

On that basis I don’t think I ever had a good day at work! :o)

I suppose you could loosely draw a comparison with Greatland and our Tasmanian assets. Admittedly the Tasmanian assets are nowhere near a producing mine or the same scale. But someone else is better equipped to take that forward and we maintain an interest in it.

If they received a royalty payment they’d still benefit from any upside but without the risks, running costs.

JB other than I think it’s Cadia and the Canadian assets which are forefront on Newmont’s wish list I’m on a similar track.
Wether CB has any more idea than we do about future developments who knows. But I’m sure he’s very wary of ending up being too close to the truth, I’m sure he doesn’t want it to look like what he says turns out to be 100% accurate. Best to throw in a few possibilities.

Culpepper by my own admission i have oversimplified things.I know many find it unthinkable but Newcrest might, who knows actually have a wish or reason to consider selling Havieron/Telfer.

I think the Havieron JV is about 4 years old. I wonder ballpark what Newcrest have spent so far?
Regardless of what Havieron might be “worth” what would be considered a good rate of return on that investment.

I hear what people say about all the effort Newcrest have put into Havieron, and what they say makes sense….. but, and I’m sure many others know of similar situations;
Some years ago I worked on an installation for a very large multi national pharmaceutical company, a new high tech laboratory,clean rooms etc. tens of millions of pounds worth. We were 95% complete and they closed permanently the whole site.
Another one was for a multi national Agri chemical business, we built not one but two large plants and then an effluent recovery plant to complement it, it took over 4 years and at the cost of well over a few hundred million pounds, I don’t think it ever commercially produced anything and was demolished within a few years from completion.
I could go on but I might appear to be a bit of a Jonah!
Point is, is there’s always a bigger picture and sometimes it’s baffling.

I was waiting a few more days to see what transpired but having always found Jerryspaniel’s musings to turn out quite accurate, that’s my question to Shaun Day sorted. Any chance of a good deal for shareholders on a second hand Hi Lux that’s never been off road.
Oh and can I bagsy as a souvenir the old Kalajartu name plaque, I assume you’ll get a new one worded slightly different.

Shaun has mentioned previously, albeit in a different context, royalty payments. Wonder if this could factor into financing/facilitating a possible deal.
