I reckon you could be, matey. But it depends on what you mean by "own". I mean, if we are talking about part-ownership as a junior member of a consortium with British Airways and so on...then I agree.

But then, we could start to say that Roman Abramovitch "owns" Velocys! :-D (Well, I have heard that he has bought 7% of their shares - not sure whether it's true.)

Yes. The details are a little messy. But still, any folks (and there seem to be some) who conceptualise Velocys as a SAF producer with a cigar and a big stetson hat are really NOT grasping the nature of the company - and in particular the scope of their potential. But whatever.

IMO the news relating to Mississippi was what jazzed up the market most - although the second announcement was good too of course. AltAlto is a reference project...they have some direct interest in the production there...yeah well okay. But their core business model is about providing the technology to lots of other SAF producers internationally, as opposed to _being_ a SAF producer.

Thing is, this is a long term play. It may be 10-15 years before we see the full potential - although the market will most likely start to price in potential as soon as the first plants using VLS tech come into operation.
(I hope nobody takes this the wrong way, but there is part of me that would actually be happy if the price did flash back down to around 6-7p until they start construction in Immingham - because I would double the f__k down and buy another 100,000 shares if it did!)

My figure of 200 may not be exact. On the other hand, the model is based on a project the size of AltAlto - some will be much larger than that. We are talking back-of-envelope calculations here, of course. But even in a pessimistic scenario, it seems clear to me that the potential is HUGE. Assuming, just for the sake of argument, there would be only 100 million in total revenues for VLS from each plant over 20 years, and assuming that they only end up selling their technology to a couple of dozen plants in total, it would still make them worth billions!

Lightweight, in the most recent "investor meet company" presentation they had a slide showing projected earnings from one plant over 15 years of operation. It was quoted in US-dollars, and I am completely going from memory - but I'm pretty sure it was in the region of 200 Million Pounds, give or take. Maybe I'll take another look.

Competitors? Of course. For every Microsoft there is an Apple, or vice versa.
(But hey, they will probably only need to be working with 20 or 25 plants worldwide to make me a million!:-D)

SunZoo, I think some people have a slight misunderstanding about what Velocys is. They are not, themselves, a fuel producer! What they do is to provide patented Fischer-Tropsch reactors to other companies that ARE fuel producers. At the moment there are basically three plants in the pipeline (pun intended) that will be using their technology. But they could be working with scores of plants worldwide 10 years from now . Velocys' slice of the action will be about 200 million from each plant. Even if there are 5 plants - yes just 5 - up and running using their tech, that would - roughly speaking - imply a price of 100p per share. This is the kind of long term potential that we are looking at here!

Mate, if you think Velocys is planning to produce any fuel at all you have no fundamental understanding of what they are. They provide technology for producers of SAF. It remains to be established how many plants will eventually use their technology - but think 50-100 worldwide by the end of the decade. (BTW Each one will be worth about 200 million to Velocys.)

I think we should take a moment to salute Henrik Wareborn for the stellar work he (and, of course, all his team) are doing at Velocys. I personally think of Mr Wareborn as 'the ice-pick' - a supercool Swede with a steely sharp edge! Since his appointment, with a brief to take VLS to delivery stage, he has solved all of the problems that have bogged them down in the last few years, and is about to preside over the critical breakthroughs in the UK and US - before propelling them to even greater heights! He will be richly rewarded by 10 million share options (2 million of which have a strike price of 10p and another 2 million a strike price of 15p - which, BTW, gives some clue of how high they anticipate the price being by the time those options expire at the end of this decade!) But then, his fortune is exactly aligned with our fortune, is it not?

May Henrik walk away with at least 50 million Pounds! And may I walk away with a proportionate share of the action at the same time! (I haven't done the exact math, but it'd certainly be over 1 :-D)

Honestly, I was kind of expecting a correction. I feel absolutely indifferent about the situation. I bought the vast majority of my holding at around 5p (I added some more this afternoon at around 12p) I was 3K in profit already before this latest surge even started. Sure I could have cashed out for 25K or whatever...but I'm in this for the big bucks. I don't mind waiting.

A new Rolex now or anything up to a million in a few years time...? Hm, pretty tough call this...

I find it strangely impossible to feel offended right now - I'm sat here looking at profits of around 23K which are only going up in the long term :-D

Yes Doug - my estimate is a conservative one. But (as the sold-on-Wednesday muppets like to point out) there may be some competitors using non-VLS technology...
Other unknowables: Israel/North Africa, the Middle East, Russia, China(?)... There could even be up to 100 plants using VLS tech eventually - it's not impossible.

We can safely assume they are muppets with sore bottoms who sold on Wednesday :-)
