Yeah, you're right Giraffe - not even looking at this stuff from day-to-day or week-to-week is advisable for the average guy.
But it's all relative anyway. Things have had a kicking today, without doubt. Yet I'm still looking at profits of almost 12,360 Pounds at time of writing. Two weeks ago I would have been cracking open the champagne to see that! :-D

I mean, if people can take some at 7p or 8p - all power to 'em. But it's maybe kind of gambling on there not being any significant political developments or new deals announced in the near future?

People might be advised to take 10p while they can get it, IMHO

Actually, I am on right the brink of coming back to market for another 50,000 shares - but I'm not sure when to move. I think 7p is doubtful. I'd certainly move at 8p - but again I don't know if it will get down there. I dunno...10p...? Hm...

Mind you, it can turn on a sixpence. Another sexy news release and SP would rapidly head back up to the moon :-P

Agreed. I would _exhort_ anyone who bought at the the peak not to do the damn-fool thing and sell at a loss!

Sure, it easier for me to say that - all I'm seeing is profits falling away on screen rather than my initial investment. But nothing fundamental has changed. There is huge upside potential. Selling now is just dumbly giving away your money to a smarter and more savvy investor. There will be a lot of guys out there in the world who will do that. Don't be that guy!!

(That being said, there is a lesson here too: buying at the peak of a big surge is often not the smartest move - it usually falls back before climbing again. And the troughs can sometimes be deep and very lengthy too - although probably not in this case, IMO.)

There has been a fair amount of discussion about this in various threads, but some folks who are considering the investment might have missed some of it, so I thought it deserves a thread.

In a nutshell, Velocys expects the following from each project the size of Altalto at Immingham:

From Initial phase of design construction and commissioning they expect about $36-37 million from reactor sales, engineering fees, technology license.

Once the plant is live, they expect $9.75 million per yer in sales of replacement reactor catalyst, in technical support, and from decarbonisation royalties.

Their figure for NPV at 10% discount is $56million (=41.62 million Pounds at current exchange rate.)

Convb raises good and pertinent questions, but it seems surprising that he pulled the trigger (or started pulling the trigger, at least) on VLS without researching this stuff inside out. It has, after all, been in the public domain and easily findable for quite some time.

(Not trying to be argumentative - he sounds to me like a clever guy and a sophisticated investor. Hence my genuine surprise.)

I think Andrew Morris and/or Henrik Wareborn talked this stuff through in the last presentation? But it's a few weeks since I watched it - I'll have to see it again when I get time. (Well worth a look, BTW, if anybody haven't seen it yet - can still be found on YouTube.)

Mm, I dunno. My optimism of recent days has given way to very dark and extreme pessimism! I feel this is going to 2p, before (perhaps) VERY slowly climbing in two or three years time.
But here's some good news: you can cut your losses right now! I'll take your shares off you for 8p :-D

I reckon it'd need to go back to 8p before I'd be tempted to hoover up another 50,000. And that'd take me up to the line. Just over 300,000 shares would be as much VLS as I could possibly justify without going way too heavy on one stock ;-)

NB before someone accuses me of trying to drive down the price, etc. No, I am NOT saying I think 8p is likely. And I'm NOT saying I want it to go down either. I'm not unhappy with the holding I have - especially not at the price I got in at.
