Battle,
I think you are being too generous with Corrib. DCAAE say:
"?The Corrib Gas Field was discovered off the west coast of Ireland in 1996. Approximately 70% of the size of the Kinsale Head field, it has an estimated producing life of just over 15 years."
and
"Since the start of 2016, Corrib production accounts for approximately 36% of gas demand. It is expected that this will rise to approximately 60% in 2016/17 and approximately 50% in 2017/18. Thereafter production is expected to decline."
So according to DCCAE, Corrib will be dead by 2030 and it is already in decline supplying only about 50%-60% of Irish gas needs. All the rest comes from the UK.
Never a greater need for gas from Barryroe but unless SpotOn comes up with its £200k tomorrow we have to wonder are we in another wild goose chase.
I note Exola's request to carry out the site survey on the K area of Barryroe has only got to the final stages of Stage 2 with comments from anybody allowed up to the 14th May which was just three days ago.
If they get the all clear on that, the survey should be done in the not too distant future. The area to be surveyed is where they want to decide if Barryroe is a gas field with an oil ring or a major oil field with a gas component.
We now have to wait on a final decision from the Minister or his assistant via the DCCAE.
