Ah Wolves the USO let us start with that first and foremost. It has not as you put it gone it has been relaxed for obvious reasons. Royal Mail could never met their obligations under the USO and would have been heavily fined for not doing so. It takes Parliament to agree to scrapping the USO its a legal requirement. Is that clear enough for you. Secondly the situation with every other day deliveries. As you are well aware due to social distancing one vehicle one person, added to this the volume of staff in DO's there was no option but to go that way. Lastly the public are putting up with late delivery of mail because of the situation they will not be happy when this crisis ends if that continues we have a duty to the public to deliver that mail in good time not when we want and the regulator would never let us get away with it. You see we are high up in the estimations of the public right now. Any attack by the employer or for that matter the regulator to make 30,000 of us redundant would be a massive public image failure and the end of not only Rico but the Board it will not happen

Just seen your link yes very apt indeed. If Boris can walk 5 yards lift his arms above his head and carry a mop he is fit for work. Your position is not on a level though your assumption that RM will not be nationalised is distinctly different to cannot be nationalised. There are stronger reasons to nationalise the industry than to keep it part of the free market which appears to be a failed experiment. As part of the UPU Royal Mail is protected from ever going to the wall but that would mean renationalisation. Also given current climate about keeping things British and why aren't we making stuff which is now appearing on a daily basis, there are strong winds for change given what postal workers are doing to help British Industry and the general public to keep going. Don't worry the CWU will be lobbying hard on the back of that you can be sure of that mind you if there was no union that would not be the case, bloody unions eh!!

@ Red Read the NAO report of 2014 Privatisation of Royal Mail, then tell me that Royal Mail will stay privatised. Even the Tories with their greedy avarice which knows no bounds would not let this great company go to the wall. In fact if you read the document it cannot be allowed to happen RM are part of the UPU it cannot go out of business but it can be renationalised. You are far out on this one
