When the Tories and Brexit stop affecting the economy, then everyone will be very happy to stop discussing them. I'd like nothing more than to never hear those two words ever again, but sadly it seems I'll need to wait another two years before we get rid of one, and sadly it looks like the other will be mentioned for a very long time indeed.
"anti-conservative agenda"
I think you'll find statistically (if we are going by the current polls) the "anti-conservative agenda" is the agenda of the vast majority of the UK. Gasp shock horror, you are a minority! However will you look yourself in the mirror?
Nevermind, Tories have managed to look at themselves in the mirror for 12 years now with no reflection whatsoever. Makes sense for a bunch of blood sucking vampires.
See you in another few months, hope you don't have to visit the NHS or it might be a few months longer..
Jesus Christ can you stfu Goodies? No one wants to read 15+ comments from you in a row. Unhinged lunatic. Reported, filtered, kindly encourage everyone else to do the same.
Don't want to sound like paranoid schizo Gate13, but it's weird and suspicious that skiers absolutely deluded (not to mention incredibly stupid) comment gets 9 Recommends, yet basically every comment in response to it is disagreement.
Starting to get fairly convinced the alt-right loons on this board have alt-accounts for bigging themselves up. Either that or there are 9 very quiet and very dumb accounts on here.
"FTSE100 this century fell -6% between 2000 and 2016."
Riiiiiiiight, so what does it falling 6% from 2000 to 2016 have anything to do with the point you are making? How exactly is that relevant? Please explain, so I can understand the mind of a moron, what that information has to do with anything?
"FTSE100 since Brexit has risen +23% between 2016 and 2023."
Yes, you already said that, and most other major stock markets around the world outperformed the FTSE between 3-4x as much.
So, BY YOUR OWN LOGIC that holds Brexit responsible for a 23% gain, you are essentially saying Brexit is responsible for giving us 1/4 the growth of most other major stock markets. In other words, Brexit was bad.
You realize that you are making that point right? Do you understand that you are unwittingly arguing why Brexit was a bad economic choice?
"The most defining link between Brexit and the UK stock market is the four years of underperformance of the FTSE 100 compared to other major market indexes across the world following the 2016 referendum. Investors would have gained a 13.3% higher return if they had invested in the US instead. Even investing in Latin America, where markets are fraught with political volatility and debt defaults would have provided better profits."

Interesting reading. Not sure skier has the ability to read though.
S&P 500 up 120% since 2016.
Dow Jones up ~150% since 2016.
Nikkei 225 up ~120% since 2016.
Also a reminder that the UK is still the only major global economy still smaller than it was before the pandemic.
"Brexit dividend" seems to be about 1/4 the bonus of every other major market since 2016. I wonder why?
All the airlines are up massively, don't really understand why EJ being up is any cause for rumours of anything at all. The whole market is up.
"UK had the fastest-growing economy in the G7 in 2022."
The UK is the ONLY major economy on the planet still smaller than it was before the pandemic began.
"Everyone who wants one has a job. The UK has (effectively) zero unemployment."
These are two completely meaningless statements.
"UK wages are growing at their strongest level this century, at +6%."
This is a lie and does not take into consideration inflation. Public sector wages have largely stagnated or fallen in real-terms since 2008.
"UK exports to the EU have soared to a record high."
This is a lie.
"EU airports have opened special passport channels for UK citizens that enable Brits to breeze thru faster than ever before."
This is a lie.
"The Queen's passing was the second-most watched event on all of planet Earth last year (after Ukraine-Russia)."
This is a meaningless statement.
Epro it's genuinely impossible to even debate a Tory voter because they take zero responsibility for anything. NHS collapsing? It's the strikers and upper management. Pound collapsing? It's the market. Rampant inflation? It's the war in Ukraine. Lack of investment for a decade? Labour left us no money. Businesses shutting en masse? Definitely not Brexit. Massive housing shortage? Private sectors fault. Trains no longer moving? Privatisation working as expected! And so on...
It's either woke lefties, socialists, migrants, minorities, remainers or some other group they can target to avoid any admission of fault. It's literally NEVER the party that has been in power the last 12 years. It's NEVER the decision they made to keep them in power, or to leave the EU, is it?
They simply, unequivocally, cannot take responsibility for anything. That is why nothing works in this f*cking country, because it's being ran by people that take no responsibility for the country, voted in by people that have no interest in a functioning society. Just look at the comments from them, you'd think it was 2018 and the country wasn't literally grinding to a halt around us. They are oblivious to the world around them, such is their abdication from reality. Reality would require taking some responsibility.
Where are the adults in the room? It's just, I got mine and not in my back yard and sticking their fingers in their ears like childreb. Well, hopefully in a generation they'll all be gone, and maybe THEIR children and grandchildren can start picking up the pieces from the complete abandonment of duty.
I'm glad you are happy living in the fantasy sunlit uplands TFE.
Is there anything to NOT be miserable about right now? We moan about the state of the country, you moan about a few thousands migrants coming over here in boats. Everyone is moaning, everything is broken.
But sure, go stick your head back in the sand, like you've been doing for the last six years.
"Sadly, I fear in five or ten years time, perhaps even less, when we travel abroad to other developed countries we will see how far we have slipped behind in standard of living."
Where you been travelling? I've been to Germany, Finland, Spain, France and Switzerland in the last few years and their major cities are already far ahead of everywhere in this country bar London. I can only imagine it's a similar story in Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands.
Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if the East of Europe is nipping at our heels. While every other country used low interest rates to borrow money for country-wide investment, our government decided to enact 12 years of "austerity". And now borrowing is expensive it's further tightening of our belts. How much tighter can they get? I guess when the country is starving, the answer is "pretty tight".
I wonder how many alt-accounts Gate and TFE have so they can recommend their own comments and pretend it's the voice of the people?
Normally, in a sane and rational world, I wouldn't expect anyone to be that sad to create alternate accounts to like your own posts, but the fact Gate seems to accuse other people of doing it makes me think that he most definitely is doing it himself.
Weird little fellas those two.
