If I had more guts I'd set a sell at 50p because we have bounced off it time and time again the last year. Odds are I'd sell and it would skyrocket to 60p this time, so gonna just keep it chill.

The UK is absolutely fine if you have a lot of money and I am in a fairly financially stable position. That doesn't mean I'm oblivious to the clear, well documented and sustained issues that millions of people in this country are facing. It also doesn't mean I am in complete denial about the fact that the UK is still the only major global economy still below pre-pandemic levels OR that the UK stock market has performed laughably over the last decade compared to their peers across the various ponds.

A few days of the stock market going up really matters not to the millions of people in this country with no savings, equity or shares in a company and it certainly doesn't offset 12 years of disasterous choices by an incompetent government at the hands of an illiterate electorate. An electorate btw that now largely supports Labour and regrets leaving the EU.

Is everything doom and gloom? No, I've made loads of the money the last week. Yet I am capable of making money and still seeing the world around me, instead of getting blinkered as soon as $$$ turns up.

As I said, it's good to beat expectations, but the economy shrank 0.3% in the three months prior to that so has likely contracted overall in Q4 so we are still almost certainly in a recession.

Happy to see some green the last few weeks though! To say it's been a difficult 12 months would be an understatement!

Don't think anyone is going to complain about the economy growing, but growing 0.1% is practically stagnation and it was against a fairly poor backdrop.

If it can continue to grow, and grow at an actual meaningful rate, then I'd be far happier. But as it stands, we still remain the only major economy on the planet that hasn't recovered to pre-pandemic levels. That is just the reality of the situation.

I've said this a lot on here, but it bears repeating: Tories only care about themselves. They are incapable of anything else, if they were, they wouldn't vote Tory.

Once you understand that "I got mine" is essentially the core of their "ideology" then everything else makes sense.

12 years of defunding the NHS and cutting the pay of NHS workers to the point the entire service is collapsing, and they still couldn't give two sh*ts about any of it. They have private healthcare, "I got mine".

Never forget, this is what the Tories want for this country. They are happy to watch people literally die (estimated to be around 500 unnecessary death per week due to the current crisis) so they can sell the NHS off to their rich chums.

And this antivaxx moron is going on about vaccine deaths, while the party in charge of this country for the last 12 years is directly responsible for 500+ needless deaths every single week.

No one is criticising the NHS. The only time the NHS gets mentioned here is either in praise for the amazing job it does, or in abject terror about the concerted effort to disrupt and defund the service until it no longer works, so that it can be sold off to private health conglomerates from the US.

In December 2021 our Chancellor travelled to the US to meet specifically with private health care companies to discuss "investment" in the UK (i.e. introducing American-style "healthcare" to the US).

Let me check my notes on who the chancellor was in December 2021...hmmm...oh yeah, Rishi Sunak. Funny that.

LuckyLurker, we are all tired of Tories being scum, Brexit being a clustf*ck, the NHS being sold down the river etc. Unfortunately reality is quite "1-dimensional". I wish I lived in the fantasy sunlit uplands, but unfortunately I don't exist in a bubble and am aware of things going on in the country.

I wish I could stick my head in the sand, put fingers in my ears and sing "la la la" til it all went away, but alas, I am an adult and not a child and therefor have a duty to be aware of the world as it is, and not how I wish it was.

If you can't actually defend your shamefully immoral views (political or otherwise), surely you should ask yourself why you have them in the first place?

LL, if you don't like the topic of conversation here why keep coming back? If Lloyds wasn't tied to the UK economy, then politics wouldn't matter, but it is, so it does.

But let's be real, the only reason the Tories on this board don't want to talk about the consequences of 12 years of mismanagement, and a disasterous referendum, is because they have absolutely no case to defend.

Take some responsibility for your political beliefs. If you've voted Tory the last 12 years, kindly explain what they are doing to help local councils that are criminally underfunded (unless of course it's a rich Tory town) or the NHS which is crumbling before our very eyes or the strikes which are crippling the country or the any other number of disasters that seem to be occuring on a now daily basis.

Please, chime in and tell me why you will continue to vote Tory at the next election. Explain to me their policies that will help this country. I'm happy to listen.

I completely disagree Gaz, it's not that there is an "alternate view" to what the Tories see at all - there is reality and there is delusion.
