The economy doesn't function if no one has any money to buy anything, and if they rich keep accumulating more and more of the pot, then everyone else has less and less to actually put back into the economy.

But if you would believe the Tories on this board, having trillions of pounds of wealth hidden in offshore tax-havens contributing precisely NOTHING to the economy is somehow a good thing?!

Fairly taxing the richest in society is the hallmarks of a functioning society. Rest assured, when people talk about taxing the richest in society, they aren't talking about you. You are no where near the tip of the iceberg, you won't be affected. Taxing multi-millionaires and billionaires FAIRLY is not a fringe idea, it is how most advanced countries in the world work. We have levels of inequality in this country (and in the US) that haven't been seen for generations. When a couple dozen people in a country literally have more money than the lowest 50%, there is clearly an issue.

Defending the tax-dodging billionaires is not only stupid, it's immoral and pretty much everything I'd expect from a Tory voter.

Oh please, high taxes targeting the right people are the hallmark of every major functioning democracy on the planet. There is absolutely nothing wrong with high taxation if it targets the right people.

Multi-millionaires and billionaires using tax loopholes and offshore tax-havens are a huge problem and need to be addressed. As does inheretence tax, which is essentially a genetic lottery.

Wealth accumulates more wealth, which is why have spiralling inequality in the UK and the US. We need to fairly tax those that have the broadest shoulders.

The problem in this country is that we are placing a high tax burden on those that earn next to nothing once mortgage, food, and transport costs have been factored in.

A fairer, more equitable system that is designed to improve the lives of those at the bottom of the pile is the ONLY way to economic growth. You build up from the bottom, you don't give more and more to a tiny few at the top.

Weird that the UK is forecast to have the worst recovering economy of any major nation on the planet, even below that of Russia who is actively being sanctioned by the entire western world.

This is a big load of nonsense. The cost of living problems have been around for well over a year now and any looming fears of a recession have been priced in for about as long.

These aren't some problems that just appeared a few months ago and the market is far, far, FAR further ahead of any poster on here.

All these types of articles (Yahoo Finance, Motley Fool etc) are literally copy/pasted and published every few days, with the names of the shares switched out and a few data points filled in, as easy clickbait for boomers that can't tell the difference between an actual article and something being used to drive advertising revenue.
