The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
I agree, it is a bit of a shambles up here right now. That is what happens when a competent, experienced leader gracefully resigns and leaves a power vacuum that less experienced politicians scramble to fill. Not been a great week for the SNP.
You guys should know all about that, having dealt with it south of the border 4 times in the last two years. It's almost the same, apart from the "competent leader" and "graceful resignation" bits anyway.
I imagine you Tories must be enraged with Sunaks NI deal, being that it completely tears up dear leader Boris's "oven ready" deal that you all championed last year?
"Why is the UK screwed?"
Err, we decided to isolate ourselves from the largest trading bloc on the planet, who just so happen to be our immediate neighbours. We are an island that put up even greater barriers for business and trade to enter.
We also don't really produce much of anything anymore and are highly reliant on our countries for food, which means that putting up barriers with the rest of the food producing nation's in Europe was a profoundly stupid idea.
All these things were predicted.
"Machiismo sadly is still with the same message, just sad."
Yeah my message doesn't really change because my message is one of understanding the UKs socio-economic reality and not living in some fantasy land in my head where everything is rosey.
It's fairly easy to maintain a consistent narrative when the narrative is based in truth.
"wether you wanted brexit or not is done now..move on"
Just move on from the biggest self-inflicted wound in the history of the country that will shape the economy for the next several decades and the fall-out of which we are only beginning to fathom.
I'll remove my head from the sand in 30 years when we've just about recovered.
Just move on.
What a joke.
LTNs are good for business you total nuggets. People in cars driving through areas are contributing far less to local businesses than people walking through areas. It's why every single major shopping street in the world is lined with pathways and not roads.
This is just so mind-numbingly obvious I genuinely don't know how you people manage to put your trousers on in the morning.
Why in god's name are you gammons protesting against LTNs? We are the only country on the planet stupid enough to protest against something that is good for business, good for the environment, and good for people's health.
Stop watching GB News for a second and actually engage with the thinking part of your brain for a god damn split second here.
The only thing LTNs impact are people trying to drive through a city. So taxi drivers essentially. Everyone else wins.
These protestors and you are such vacuous nuggets I despair, honestly. Just THINK for a second instead of getting frothy at the mouth every time GB News or the Daily Heil tells you to.
An a year ago it was 140p and two years ago it was 220p.
It has lost 80-85% of its share value in two years. Let's not pretend an 80% rise from 20p is somehow amazing. Most investors will be extremely down still, including myself.
No idea where any of the confidence comes from when the court case has been kicked down the road a dozen times over the last few years and will likely do so indefinitely.
There's not really been any evidence to support the case that anything is progressing.
"Have yet to meet a scot who resides in England who likes her !"
I've yet to meet a Scottish person living in England that wasn't a complete fanny, meanwhile every English person I know living in Edinburgh would never go back. Funny that.
Nice to see a party leader resign with grace and dignity.
She's seen...hmm let me count...5 Tory PMs come and go (including 3 in the last 12 months alone) who have all been forced to resign amid scandal or incompetence or both.
Yet the gammons on here will be happy to see her go. She was a good leader, a great politician and above all, an actual decent, relatable human being. She obviously only ever operated on what she thought was best for the people of Scotland and there is nothing shameful about that in the slightest.
If only the rest of the UK was lucky enough to have a leader like that for the last 8 years.
"If true, the scene is now set for Alex Salmond to be the Comeback Kid ?"
He isn't even a member of the SNP... Nice to see everyone on here without the faintest clue talking shop as if they do. Par for the course. Roasters.
Did I say taxing billionaires was a panacea to fix everything wrong in the world? No, no I didn't.
"We know our place and where we stand in society", what does that even mean?! Are you trying to suggest everyone should just be content with the lot they are born into and not strive to actually make society better for everyone involved? What a horribly sh*t view on the world. No wonder you vote Tory, you hate your life and want everyone else to hate theirs too.
"Sorry for the delayed response but there are a few who are trying to advance their lives instead of waiting for handouts." Ah yes, as long as YOUR life is advanced, screw everyone else right? Tory voters..
Do you realize that nothing you say is backed up by any sort of logic at all and is essentially at its core, a total nothing argument?
SOCIALISM, HANDOUTS, SOCIALISM, LABOUR, SOCIALISM
It's like talking to a handicapped toddler.
It's not just intolerance and hatred, it's stupidity and bad economic policy.
The economy doesn't function if no one has any money to buy anything, and if they rich keep accumulating more and more of the pot, then everyone else has less and less to actually put back into the economy.
But if you would believe the Tories on this board, having trillions of pounds of wealth hidden in offshore tax-havens contributing precisely NOTHING to the economy is somehow a good thing?!
It's so dumb.
