RE: Brexit Brilliance14 Nov 2022 21:33
Imagine going to any supermarket and not buying things made in the UK. I think you'd have a choice of about 4 vegetables and 3 types of fruit left. Only in summer mind you.
Or better yet, imagine adding cost onto every product you buy that isn't made inside the UK. Why does it cost more you ask? Oh because shipping to the UK is now full of so much paperwork that fewer and fewer companies are capable or can even be ****d. Imagine you can be ****d, and you now have such a backlog of work that they need to hire more staff to process the same amount of product, but there are no staff, so less work gets done, you have to raise your prices to stay afloat and imagine, of course, that those costs are passed the consumer.
Now imagine every single product coming into and leaving the UK, across every type of industry, now having to overcome such hurdles, large and small, at every juncture of business. Imagine the entire supply chain is bogged up with similar problems. Imagine having to run a business unsure if you can source any material you may need at a price they makes yoru business viable.
Imagine how quickly your small businesses, already on paper thin-margins, can go bust simply by not being able to quickly and affordably ship their services and products to the largest economic trading bloc in the world. (A bloc that also just happens to be a couple hundred miles down the road btw)
Now imagine you CHOSE all these things for some vague, opaque, totally not xenophobic reason.
No need to imagine of course, all you need to be is a British person living in Brexit Britain.
