IMO, the SP had simply become too frothy, based on fundamentals, and this is a justified correction, until the company hopefully gets back on track and regains market confidence that this remains a growth stock.

And if the SP was around the 410-415p level right now, I would have exited and waited on the sidelines for the update.

As it is, and subject to the usual caveats, I am looking forward to being in for the update, albeit comfortable with only having a small position right now.

I think this name will manage satisfactorily. As will the gambling companies, IMO. Certainly over a time-frame of 12-18 months or more. Perhaps (hopefully!) sooner.

CARD specifically, much sooner than that, IMO, but I appreciate a degree of confirmation bias on my part with this statement.

Anyway, as I have said a few times now, any Budget tax hikes and other additional business red tape requirements, will result in job losses/reduced hours employee contracts, less recruitment (especially in the perm sector), price increases, reduced perks/bonuses/commissions etc and a net negative for the Exchequer.

We all just have to play with the cards that we are dealt. Pun intended :) GLA.

My original buy order triggered this morning. Which I commented on back when this was only a watch list share for me.

I said I felt it was too frothy even at that price, but decided to open a small position once we had news of the activist investor. In case I missed the boat.

No regrets at the time of print, but obviously my original thesis was correct!

Not much support before the 270's now IMO, but I am happy to hold this small position and see what plays out if the turnaround is not quick. GLA until the next update.

At least all those pension contributions continue to be safely ring-fenced for future deployment where those funds were intended...oh, wait a minute! Lol.

As far as the UK goes, these times are not like before, where such a majority almost guaranteed a two, and likely, three-term government.

Never before has a government been so unpopular, so soon after gaining power. Not sure any have embraced sleaze, broken manifesto promises, or U-turns, quite so swiftly either. Not in the West, anyway.

This is decades in the making problems, and I will put my hat on the absolute certainty that we will not have turned the corner in four years.

You will never hear me defend, or champion the other lot, and a glance of my posting history will tell you my thoughts on them quite clearly, but anyone who still has faith in the lib/lab/con establishment parties, is going to face real disappointment in the years ahead.

Forgivable in teenagers or those in their early 20's perhaps. Less so for others who should have seen the wood from the trees by now, IMO.

But the mediocrity of the masses might see more of the same, until we are entirely indistinguishable from the failed states of the global south.

In the meantime, BEG offers a small hedge for when the time comes where even the most convincing liar can no longer claim that the music of the economy is still playing.

In which case, prices go up and some headcount reductions commence.

Unlike some retailers, CARD IMO has the capacity to raise prices on goods that will not lose them custom, because they can remain within competitive pricing parameters, yet will result in the business being able to absorb whatever additional burden the red clowns apply, from this additional revenue.

If said clowns do not behave as haplessly as the markets are currently pricing in, then we could see quite an uplift in our indices, so in some ways it is a risk sitting on your hands until Budget day too.

If the CEO fails to captivate the market with the next update (especially forward-looking guidance and remedies etc), then we could get a chance to load up here one final time.

Then sit tight for some material gains within 12-18 months, IMO, because I do think the problems here right now are not something that cannot be rectified. Either by the current team, or some new faces.

That could include a bid, but I think that prospect is actually more likely if/when the company demonstrates they are back on track.

Always fun to speculate, while we wait for what actually will come to pass.

And very soon we will know how things are shaping up since the last contact.

Blimey. Not been following this one since late last week.

Unexpectedly around break even now on the current trade here. Well, on paper anyway. Goodness knows what tomorrow will bring, as this is one of those names that always keeps you guessing :)

Hopefully we at least return to the top of the current mini range, although my current target exit price remains north of that right now. GLA.

While I do not discount BCS's 90p prediction, I have stuck with my own plan of adding a few around 92p.

I have known broker downgrades to happen one day before full year results in a company.

Funnily enough, on one such occasion, a bid followed not long afterwards :)

Not suggesting that this is going to happen here, nor indeed that the downgrade is unjustified - not long to find out either way - but I think most analysts are 50/50 at best.

I am also a suspicious chap, so would not be surprised if some brokers advised their VIP clients to buy or sell certain names that run contrary to the free analysis they publish. Unless you believe in free lunches :)

As I alluded to the other day, if you have faith in the BOD to deliver, then you also should back them to handle whatever the politicians throw at them. Especially if you think they probably have a reasonable idea of what the nitty gritty might be. And that they will have known for longer than we have.

IMO, too much of a CGT hike will see reduced selling in a number of asset classes where it would hit.

I am not ruling out the possibility of this being a short-lived administration. They might not even manage a full term, because I do not think it will take three or four years to prove that their economic policies are childish.

This is where it would be good to see the industry join forces to fight back against the socialist raiders.

Work together, as much as possible (without falling foul of collusion laws of course) to exert maximum pressure.

Highlight the collective cost to jobs and the overall economy, if these clowns proceed with the touted tax raid.

I am sure they would also be able to demonstrate that such a regressive policy would end up costing the Exchequer money, rather than adding to the coffers.
